  1. often wondered , could 3 ton hitachi drive cone splitter ?
  2. very good point. i notice that ,in ireland anyway, a lot of young lads have gone straight from cs30 ,31 to 38 39 with little or no experience of chainsaw work whereas us fossils spent years sawing in the woods before getting into climbing
  3. yes. found it very interesting
  4. i used to 1 hand quite a bit and it does take its tole on ones joints. as an employer i have to practice what i preach in front of my climbers. cutting 2 handed is so much easier on the body. i see lots of different crews working and the amount of reckless 1 hand cutting, cutting and holding, and cutting with just one attachment is quite disturbing.
  5. i remember reading an article about them in forestry journal. i think around 2 years ago
  6. izuzu
  7. i use a brash grab i got from m large ( on ex 30) very strong grab can handle logs. brash ,feed pto chipper, pull gorse briars etc . great tool

think they came after 266. they had a boxy filter cover simular to a 262. was v heavy on fuel
  13. oil may have gone up into cylinders. you may need to remove the injectors to and turn the flywheel manually to clear cyinders. you will know if it has seized if you cart turn flywheel. fingers crossed !
  14. hi rowan. you can feed splitter through tractor spool by tying lever in position (some valves have levers that can hold on by themselves) the oil will stay cooler if you run the return from the splitter directly to the oil resevoir/back end
  15. like the denim chainsaw trousers
  16. think tw has uprated rear diff
  17. i have the husky version( 425 i think) great for fine pruning etc with 10 inch bar.not up to heavier work. sits really well on harness, brilliant when climbing through dense conifers. definately has its uses
  18. i always find few calls and few quotes accepted this early in year. usually picks up when days begin to get longer.your right not to drop prices .very easy to drop prices , next to impossible to get them back up again

  22. well done
  23. we almost always do storm damage at our hourly or day rates . we give the client estimated max cost allowing for setting up boarding etc + cutting down in tiny sections . i dont beleive in making a killing out of somebodys misfortune but its usually the clients poor planning or neglect of or damage to his trees that has caused the situation. i find it usually ends up costing less, customer is happy at not being fleeced= lots of referals + repeat jobs
