1. Not what you have asked for at all but I've got some lumps of brazillian mahogany that has been in the UK for about 20 years. I think you could make a lovely drum out of it. The offcuts are about 20" long 14" wide and 9" deep. Couldn't be any more different than what you asked for but they are beautiful bits of wood and I'd love to see something nice made out of them!
I'd struggle with getting it moved but if it would be possbile to mill on site then I'd be interested in it?

water damage ?

let it idle for a while to get it hot and stay hot. that should with a bit of luck dry it out completely. Shelby runs his saw in the water!
4. http://www.etsy.com/listing/90960738/custom-logo-branding-iron This guy looks pretty good and will ship to the UK.
5. Isn't the bigger picture also the exhaust fumes that you breathe in while using 2 strokes. I thought I saw some info suggesting that aspen has less harmful emissions. Maybe more relevant if you are milling more than cutting but worth considering. Kev
6. I thought of this but wanted to get a stainless steel business card (with the characters etched out) and then using a blow torch to burn the characters. Kev Something like this.... http://metalcards.com But not sure if they can etch out all of the lettering.
7. I've got a festools which is absolutely brilliant especially with the guide rails. You can cut to depth so buzz through in a number of passes which means the same isn't under such a great load. The evolution saws are good, they have an outlet shop on eBay where they cash out ex demo and refurbed kit. I've bought a few things from them and have had great service. Kev
8. I'd go with at least 4mm. Its been a long time since I did any calcs on this. http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Book/4.3.9.htm may help you... Kev
9. You are right that from within the walls of the wood community they do look a bit more than you would want to pay. But if you've got no tools or interest then buying for a small premium is a winner. Kev
10. if these are 23pounds each then the boards in the link are practically a giveaway... EKBY TONY Shelf - high-gloss white, 119x28 cm - IKEA for 13 pounds more the cherry board is the winner. Sometimes things can look expensive but when you look at how they compare they don't seem so bad. Kev
11. Nailer, Is that a westfire? Great stoves! Kev
12. This thread is madness... You employ some one (probably on a day rate) and expect them to work in the same way as you would (as a business owner?) If they are just branch luggers why would you expect them to jog back? that doesn't sound lik every safe and efficient working. Through experience you get to the point when you work hard and efficiently, as an employer you need to encourage good hard work without treating them as dogs. If your expectations are unreasonable then you are never going to find the golden goose. Its a physically tough job and steady pace wins over rushing around probably mmaking mistakes.
13. didn't see that, makes it useless for this.
14. Tile you'll need an iphone but this could work? Glue it onto and internal cover of you expensive tools...
15. Thanks for the offers, I picked up a few very nice Yew baords from Jon so all sorted now! Kev
16. if only you were closer! That looks exactly like what I'm looking for. Can I come and have a look at some point? Kev
17. Hi, I've just built a pond using treated sleepers and want to dress the top to cover the liner and the sleepers. I need 12" wide boards, ideally about 2" thick. In total I need about 15 meters (total length). Can anyone help supply these? Would love some interesting wood that I could use, something waney or rough edged Thanks, Kevin
18. I'd be interested and only down the road in coulsdon. No idea what its worth. Do you have a price in mind? Kev
19. that is a lovely bit of welding!
20. I've got the smaller r145 sv and its not been a great mower in the time i've owned it. My allen hover is a much better machine, in fact the husky is a bit of a pain so I don't use it much. Kev
21. Take a look at Winkleigh Pine if you want some table design ideas. They usually have some lovely tables Kev
22. try wills-mills, he has the kit and not too far away. Kev
23. Sorry to hear that, all the more reason to make the best of today. Kev
24. Hi, I've got an old stilh 640 and a 30 inch alaskan (you can change get the kit to make it longer). I bought for a project that didn't happen..... the alaskan is brand new and the saw is old but fires up a treat. Kev
