  3. Hi everyone , how much is 40 ton of poplar timber(green) from 12 inch down to 6inch in 15 ft lengths worth delivered . i was quoted £1200 plus vat, it was being hauled 5 miles, this sounds steep to me.

    happy new year and all that, bet you have been busy , guess its feet up time now and a well deserved rest (if only). well i have just come back from kenya had a couple of weeks with the out laws who live over there , bit to hot for me 35 degrees plus. but on the farm we are starting daffodils (indoor) and i have started to pot up some norway spruce in large containers , on the down side i found vine weevil in some of the trees !!! have you come across this pest if so how do you combat against it , we have ,had trouble with them in the strawberrys before but destroyed the plants , bit reluctant to do that with the 3 year old trees though. we use equity (dursban) as a drench , and have tried provardo ( systemic insecticide) but to no joy , will the trees survive???

  6. you can only sell your own wood,there have been 6 other log dealers set up around our area this year, and I know they have a limited supply and limited choice but it does hinder the out put . its the same old , everyone buys on price and moans on quality!!!!!
  7. You cant , Im selling 1.8 cu mts of apple for £120 and its slow . 18 to 23% mc not bad
  8. other side of the country, top of cambridgeshire where they grow proper apples !! alot of the roots did end up on the log burner, yes they do last a good while too.

Im not a turner or a craftsman but I took up a 30 year old bramley orchard a couple of years back and there were a couple of thousand of these grafted root stocks , that i thought looked nice so i had one made into a fruit bowl(original i know). just wondered what the pro's think? just wondering what to do with the other 1999 other roots!!!

  15. as a farmer first and i sell fire wood second we grow as a country half the amount of sugar we need and import the rest ,so there is no way we can supply our own fire wood wheather it be soft wood or hard.
  16. hi, dont know anything about wood turning or carving but have a request from a customer who wants some 12 inch x 1inch discs cut out of cherry is there anyway of force drying the wood.
  17. someone told me the key to making good cider is dont let the apple touch the ground!
  18. for sure one you can burn now the other next year , but they still cost the same to get to that position! if anything the ones in the green would have cost more (higher cord price, fuel price, wage's hike,ect ect)
