  1. thats alot of timber, is all that for fire wood?
  2. nice looking pile how long did it take you to stack that lot? as for bark up i guess it sheds rain better?
  3. for sure if you log them green and put them into a sealed shed then they will mould, but like egg said whats the point of cutting into billets then cutting into logs that pice of wood only wants handling once!! unless you cut them for different size fire place's.

  5. hi dn22 i store mine in pallet boxes i just screw an old ply board to the top box and stack them 3 high does the trick.
  6. the cold war kept prices high, as we could not afford to have a food shortage in the world. war is bad for people but good for money!!

  9. hi jon will be selling 1.2 mt vented bags of apple wood for £120 ,approx 450 logs in a bag or a 1.2 mt pallet box for £110 , i hear that drinking cider next to a apple wood fire makes it taste even better!!!

  12. its always appealed to me to do it, i used it a few years ago when i went on a survival coarse up in norway as part of my training dont have the time now, makes a propper man out of thee though. have a look on you tube at the south affrican guy who swims at the poles propper hard!!

  19. yes bit unfair some of the ignorant comments directed at farmers, i pushed over 200 50 ft alder last year the same way accidents happen!!
  20. i think that these stove suppliers have a lot to anwer for,it is a bit like this stigma against poplar or alder they give off great heat in a stove true poplar is pants on an open fire but as with soft wood put it in a stove its brill ,
  21. i planted about 500 mixed hard woods last year around the farm wind brakes in fills but am struggling with this drought we are in , the alder are suffering big time i planted mainly ash and alder ,
  22. well wimbildon is coming up you could buy £2000 of strawberries and flog them outside the ground there........... did i tell you i grow strawberries too!!
