  14. well no beaches near cairns. or atleast walking distance. check out mission beach while your there. theres a few big towns close enough and in my opinion one of the best beaches on the east coast. http://www.ihotels.com.au/wp-content/uploads/dunk-island.jpg i litraly worked on this beach, for quite awhile
  15. i didnt really like cairns itself, well the city anyway...but then again im a country boy at heart. i lived about 2 hours south in the sleepy town of mission beach. gets seriously hot half the year and rains the other half. normaly started around 7 and worked till 4-5 depends of how hot it is. in oz by law you get a half hour break at 10 (paid) called smoko, then usualy an hour for lunch. so pritty much the same.
  16. yea its good money out there. living costs are about the same...tho booze is more so kinda evens out haha. im a north qld man myself. love the tropics. practicly lived on a beach for about 6 months up there. how long are you goin for mate? any longer than 3 months and id recomend buy a cheep car...its a biiiiiiiiiiiig country
  17. was on around 11 pounds an hour at best. thats without out any tickets back then
