  1. I agree, naming the supplier wouldn't be good butr it's not against forum rules to name the courier Rover - Which one is it? They sound like top guys:thumbup: Other option is for a nice guy from here who's near the supplier to package for £20/£30???
  2. That handler is probably fine. I rolled a Terex onto it's side a few years ago. I was inexperienced and ran up onto a pile of spoil with a full, extended bucket. Crash! onto it's side as one wheel went higher than the other! Good thing it was the door I fell onto that was closed:thumbup1: Fortunately the only damage was a bit of cover damage on the boom where it hit an old cowshed on the way down and some stones between the tyre and rim:thumbup:
  3. According to the Spring 2011 Screwfix "Lastest in Landscaping " catalogue, "Solo is the leading German manufacturer of quality chainsaws, ideal for professional use...." Chainsaws - Chainsaws & Accessories | Screwfix.com
  4. "Snatch it hard" Then reverse
  5. You may be better waiting, spend time looking for something that you can buy. Be careful that you're not tempted into doing this because it's your mate and it may seem convenient now. Really think very very carefully before jumping. I think I sometimes make decisions too quickly, not always based on the best of reasons
  6. Does anyone know if there is a (small) boiler suitable for a house available that will burn fresh green chip? (to be sited outside!) The one in link above appears to just be an experimental one that the guy gave up on because of uneven burn.
  7. It all depends on the finish wanted. Rotary or reel cut? Do you need to box off the clippings? If it's tidy already I'd be guessing at, for me, around 220-260 per cut collecting clippings.
  8. I was a bit surprised (pleasantly!) to find I'd finished after the first page
  9. Think they'd say that the HAV figures are too high
  10. Aye, ok Raker, the terminology in Highway code says double yellow lines is no waiting :sneaky2:but loading is allowed. Surely 'parking' is less ambiguous than 'waiting'? Guess what they are saying no parking and no sitting off sat in the car! to OP: As before you should be ok unless there are loading restrictions(You have already said that you won't be causing an obstruction) http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/documents/digitalasset/dg_070563.pdf page 2&3
  11. Double yellow lines mean `no waiting at any time` :confused1:No they don't! Double yellow lines mean no parking at any time. Single yellow line means restricted parked, check the signs. Double yellow lines with pairs of stripes crossing kerb, running perpendicular to double yellow lines means no loading at any time. Yellow line(s) with single stripes crossing kerbs means restricted loading, check the signs. IMO, if you are actually loading (ie chipping) you shouldn't have a problem. Maybe it may be advisable to only park there when you are actually loading. I've never had a problem when I've been working, anywhere, I may have been lucky
  12. IMO a lot of the problem with perceptions of environmental problems is caused by the BBC and others striving to give a 'balanced' view. If 90% of scientists believe 'x' and 10% of scientists believe 'y' they give equal time and weight to a representative from each camp. The problem is that this is actually unbalanced as the impression is given that half think x and half think y - when the truth is that 90% believe y. All this obsession with being 'fair' and pc results in bigger problems within society.
  13. ....with a dogs face on the side and a sticker saying Timberwolf. Surely it's supposed to be a wolf Pete?
  14. Yep. That's why you should be using Aspen Steve! I use it in all my 2 stroke machines now. :thumbup:Costs me around £1kpa. I would lose more than that in 1 weeks lost turnover.
  15. When I did 30+31 we did this for a whole morning Frankie, practicing felling cuts on low stumps from the last lot of 'customers' Odd Bird. Bear in mind that, after the leaning trees, there isn't much more learning to do, mostly loads of practising As the others have already said, take your time, think carefully about your position and position of the saw to tree. Ask for help as much as you need. If the others are confident/competent they don't need the instructor as much as you so don't be scared of 'hogging' him/her, the others won't/shouldn't mind.
  16. At the county court (small claims) you can only recover actual (financial) losses. You cannot even be compensated for loss of your time trying to rectify the problem before court or preparing your case! Doesn't seem fair if you've wasted hours of time, but that's the way it is
  17. Don't do it 'pretty soon' Scottie! Do it NOW. - otherwise you may forget
  18. +1 for WordPress, it's free and easy to use! I started mine only a couple of months ago, a mate helped to set it up, I can now add pages, text and pics dead easy. I am normally crap with computers too... Andy Thorne
  19. Hi. I currently just use a Sprinter van, doing mostly landscaping and grounds maintenance. I am thinking of getting a tipper truck with a gvw of over 3.5t as payload is pretty useless on most 3.5t ones. I don't want to go down the route of operators license etc so will not be going up to 7.5t. Does anyone run anything above 3.5t and below 7t? What is good and bad? I know it'll need a tacho, are there any other regs I should be aware of? Many thanks for any info
  20. Not much PPE on view here eh? Photo for Ad - DoneDeal.ie
  21. Yes, the knife defo needs to be longer - some of those logs are only semi split! I reckon you'd need a block under the shear knife to push against the splitting knife though, if it was longer. Easy done though. Is it me or do these type of machines look slow, like they need some speeding up???
  22. Hawthorn

    Bad Haircut!

I've done my own for over 15yrs. Mate gave me some clippers for my 18th birthday - best, ever present I've ever had, saved me 100s of pounds! When I got married, thought I'd get Liz to do it - Big mistake! The grading comb thing fell of and she never noticed - grade 0 for a nice big stripe. I always do it myself now - take my time and get her to just check it! But then; I now I'm a control freak!
  23. @monkeyboy No, you weren't
  24. PMSL! That 2nd one, particularly was so funny! Hpw about this then? The real She Wee? This is what I was expecting to see... About Shewee Cool idea or feminism gone mad???
  25. Would it be as bad idea to have a go with kiln dried sand? I'm thinking - remove the valve from the tyre and pour in a 'certain' amount via funnel and tube; or deflate and push wall in on one side and chuck in. Cost doing it this way would be max £6 for a bag of kiln dried sand. Only problem is if it gets wet, like your mud Skyhuck - I don't know how water tight tyres on when at correct pressure - When changing them they always appear bone dry - if water could get in surely air could get out Would water alone have the same effect? - D'oh! It'd freeze! Sorry I'm just asking questions!!
