Why was there another purpose to the clip ????? Lorry, I've just turned 40 mate, i'm 5'4 and 12 stone, been dr's for medical, passed with flying colours. He said not to get hung up on facts n figures, as every body is different.

Cheers for the info guys, i like the fact your all saying get an old one, instead of a compact. Still fancy a diesel fergy tho. What are David Browns like. How much roughly would a pto chipper be (4" max) and would a fergy be powerful enough to run it. Again any info much appreciated.

Some advice please chaps. I'm looking at buying my first tractor next year. I'm buying on a tight budget and unsure which way to go. The tractor is for personal use on the allotment mainly but i also want to put a small (4" max) chipper on the back. Now i'm unsure whether to go down the compact ( kubota / iseki ) route or get an old fergie ( or something similar ) It would only get used once a week if that sometimes. As long as i can do usual stuff with it, ie , plough, rotovate and maybe grass cutting sometimes then i dont mind. What do you lot think. ( oh and it must be road legal ) as it will be stored at home but must go on road the the garden and parents. Any advice much appreciated.

Well from a joiners point of view who also has dealings in the transport sector, i would say that things are definately looking up. But dont forget the cuts havent really started yet and theres the VAT increase. So i would say its another cautious start to the new year. -
Whats wrong in using a plain old simple Bic ( or Mach 3 turbo) razor with soap n water all over, no fuss, no mess, no barbers, just a simple clean shave every time. Been doing it this way for last 20 years. The cuts dont hurt after first half dozen or so. lol.

i bought my lovely wife a new mountain bike and a new camara. As well as a GYRO-COPTER which is brill, she is also paying for me to do the nptc Tractor Driving course in the new year. LOVE her to bits. Will of been married 8 yrs on the 30th. Love her more each day.

i have my own gym equipment in the garage, free weights, punch bag etc, i find it a lot better than paying gym fees then having to find time to go. Having my own means no travelling or anything and i can excercise whenever i want, for as long as i want. I know what you mean tho about gym junkies / bouncers, have come accross it many times. But like Mr Blair says, theres nowt better than getting outdoors, i personnally prefer the mountain bike to walking tho.

Either a DAF or IVECO, would be my choice, both are eonomical, decent rides and cheap to maintain and run. cheers.

not a full time pro like you guys, just use saws for my own use, but i've gone onto tesco veg oil. suits me down to ground. Dont know the ins and outs of using veg oil, but it works, its cheap, so why not !!!

Same here, I have been looking after the maintainance of a care home and a doctors practice, fed up of putting right, others wrongs, even worse how come everyone suddenly becomes an expert on your job and tells you how to do it, how long it should take, how much to charge etc etc,

Interesting ! I am am also thinking of doing something along similar lines. But the way i was thinking of doing it, is with a small compact tractor and spliter on the back, that way i could take it to the customer and process the timber where it is stored / felled. i too wouldnt know what to charge. Its an idea i've had for ages, not got the equipment yet, just toying with the idea, and what set up to go for. Personally i'd prefer to charge either 1/2 day or full day rates.

Working as a chippie (joiner) on building sites, we use the axe for many applications, imo the axe and timber should be looked upon as an old married couple, wheres theres one you will surely find the other.

When do I need an operators licence/tacho?

As well as tacho laws, dont forget about the operators licence side of things, servicing, defect reporting, operator centre, then you have the cpc exams ( certificate of professional competence) for both management and driver. ( 2 differernt courses). To be brutally honest, transport law is a nightmare, i used to work in transport and it was a nightmare keeping everything running legal, but for some reason i still keep up to date with it all, but then again always fancied my own 7.5t flatback. -
My mate does his on computer. You can get a program that does it for you, you design it the print it out on some special paper then iron it onto your t shirt apparrently. lasts a while as well.

Must agree wi littletree, get some containers on there, charge them out, makes things look tidier and more money for you. People always pay more for secure storage.
