  1. No need to get stuck behind wagons / tractors n trailers in that thing, just drive underneath 'em.
  2. Here Here, wish i got out and about more in my youth before the wives and kids came along.
  3. Stick to your principles at all times, never back down to a bully. I've walked many a time b4 getting into dodgy dealings.
  4. I use the dremel attatchments most of the time and find it ok for what i need. Must admit tho' , i do like the look of the machine mart grinder, been thinking about one of those for ages.
  5. why not have a look at the makita range. some decent stuff at £300 mark.
  6. yep, they have them in b&q barnsley aswell.
  7. I was once fitting a new kitchen for a mate of mine, whilst his old mother was in the house, his mother is a lovable old woman who just happens to be a cat lover. My mate passed me a cuppa, and just as i was taking a big gulp of tea his mother piped up ' would you like to see my pussy ' cue me running out of the kitchen, whilst my mate was in histericks, and his mother asking if i didnt like his tea. never laughed as much since.
  8. Carnt help you with a blower, but i hope you catch the theiving scum that broke into your truck.
  9. i always say that if someone wants you to price up a job in such a way that it is not the norm, and / or is suspect, then walk away. Better to find other work than get ripped off. Been ripped off once too often to take the risks now.
  10. as far as i'm aware there is no restricted licence for mileage, just for your own goods as previousley stated. just checked the fta yearbook and there is nothing in there about restricted milaege.
  11. Hey, i've got a citreon c15 and they are completely bombproof. no abs or p/steering tho, but they are good workhorses. 1.9d engine, pull a trailer all day long. Berlingo's are the same as well. Renault Kangoo have either a 1.9d or 1.5d, the 1.5d has just as much power as the 1.9, the 1.5 is the newer ,cleaner engine and replaced the1.9 i think. the kangoo is also available with 4 wheel drive, i think it was called the 'trekker'. Fiat doblo is the biggest of them, but it is a fiat.
  12. TBH i think £30 ph is a good deal, nice steady work. If your a one man band, its an ideal way of extra income.
  13. Hasn't Tanaka now been bought out by and rebranded Hitatchi ? Screwfix are now selling them, look pretty decent.
  14. All the best pal, thanks for the reminder.
  15. totally agree, when i worked in a transport office, and went into banks (or even shops), got spoke to and treated very well, swapped jobs for buildings/driving, go into same places but with scruffs on, and get treated like scum.
  16. When i was a naive apprentice on buildings, i got asked to lay on the floor, for some strange reason i did, and promptly got nailed to the floor and left, for the gaffer to find me. ' B@"+%Ds'
  17. Hi All Bearing in mind that i'm not a full pro user like rest of you guys, i wounder if you could give me any tips on best sharpening practice. I currently sharpen my chain with either a file or more commonly a little dremel machine. Both of which sharpens the chain decently, but is there any better alternatives. I have never used one of those chainsharpeners where you need to remove the chain from the bar, what are they like. Thanks in advance.
  18. you really have a good set up there jonathon, i'm really keen to have a go at milling once i can afford the set up. People like you really inspire the rest of us to try things out for ourselves. Am i right in saying your kiln is a converted fridge trailer, how long did that take.
  19. Either diahatsu or suzuki, would be my choice, what about an old freelander, good deals to be had.
  20. love the pictures, would love to get stuck into a decent job like that, from tree to finished article, as a chippie and general woodworker thats always the dream job.
  21. Depends on what where and when for me too. different jobs, different timings but stop at least every couple of hours for refreshment and still like a hot cuppa by my side, despite the micky take.
  22. being mainly in building trade working as a chippie, i know what its like, had a rough couple of year, got wife , 2kids to look after, beginning of this year i decided to work for local doctor as his handyman for a bit. He has several properties, nursing home, surgery etc to look after. He only pays £6.50 an hour, but its been a life saver, crap wage but regular and better than nowt. Just sit tight, do what you can, things will get better.
  23. Black eyed peas, tonights going to be a good, good night (hopefully)!!!!!!
  24. Hi all, just wondering if it is worthwhile doing the nptc course in tractor driving, with a few to employment, or is it best to take the rather expensive cpcs route. Just thinking of another string to bow as an alternative to hgv's. cheers.
