  1. Thats not chipboard ! What you have bought is called sterling board. Dont worry, it is 90% waterproof. Word of warning tho, it does get very heavy when wet !!, and the size you have made your box, i would be very cautious in severe weather. Looks good tho.
  2. Later this year i hope to pass my class 1 (artic) test, Now i have plenty of experience at class 2, but if i get my class 1, i will fall into the no experience trap again. The only way to get experience is to 'volenteer' my services a few times to prove my worth. To me, if it gets me extra cash when times are hard then it will of been worth it.
  3. Same here, many moons ago when i was an apprentice with the council, whenever i was working on old peoples properties, i used to always chop any wood i had spare for sticks and give them to the people. I always remember one winter when i was doing a load of fencing, i always chopped sticks during my lunch break, then at the end of the day, distribute the around all the bungalows. The guys i worked with couldnt understand why i did it. Nowadays i tend to give food parcels away from my allotment.
  4. Same here, use makita in day job (chippie), also stanley tools are the make i tend to go for, for hand saws i use bacho.
  5. Bit of a crap wkend all round:thumbdown: done nothing but rain all wkend. Got one or two bits done, but thats all, lacking in motivation at moment to be honest.

  12. I'd go for an older model, ie ford /leyland, massey, etc. will still work hard, easier to repair and cheap parts.

  14. Rob, when you are setting the ladder up to make your first cut / run, do you level the ladder up on packers / adjustable legs or do you just sit it flat onto the timber. Just curious as i'm wondering about getting geared up to start milling myself, but have no idea about how to go about it. Any info would be much appreciated. thanks. Thanks for your earlier reply.
