  1. 88 and 3120 many times with a 4' bar. It's just a big saw. Practice lifting it into position whilst on the ground and get used to it. Swing it up to vertical and brace your left arm against your left side as the weight of the saw comes down to the horizontal. Use your left hand a pivot point, controlling the angle of the saw with your right. Get a shallow scarf started quickly and then level the saw and keep cutting. Always have a wedge and small hammer on string attached to your harness.
  2. You may also want to look at regulations that may well come up in the future. It's my view that it won't be long before towing commercially will be regulated whatever the weight. Spending large amounts on R&D for a sub-750 chipper might be wasted if the law changes and you've not sold enough into the market.
  3. We've got 2 Hilux tippers from Rob Nash. Air bags make a difference. They pull well and the guys are really happy with them. Not a huge payload, though it's easy to get off road to tip so no real drama. Also it's difficult to overload, which is not the case with virtually any other type of tipper.
  4. Cycling to my Aunt's, my Gran's and home on a Sunday and having a Sunday roast at each. My Gran's Yorkshire puds, served before the main meal, were awesome. Walking around the local area with my brother and taking it in turns with an air pistol to shoot at stuff. My granddad used to get all the waste from a local bakery to feed to the pigs. Me and my brother used to blag the best bits and sit in the pig shelters out in the field and scoff them. One day we put a big cottage loaf in the trough of the boar. The trough was full of water and a family of mice exited the loaf and began to swim for the side. The boar watched them for a short while then sucked them up one by one. I'm sure I remember him smacking his chops between mice. My Granddad used to use old London taxis as he could get everyone in for a day out and get some livestock in the back when needed taking them to the abattoir. What was that sports progam on a Sunday morning on Ch4 that used to show loads of different sports from around the world.
  5. Get a Japanese replacement vehicle to bump start it
  6. “It is clearly laid down in ‘Addison on Torts,’ that a person is not justified in killing his neighbour’s cat, or dog, which he finds on his land, unless the animal is in the act of doing some injurious act which can only be prevented by its slaughter”
  7. It's a good idea to think of all the reference data you and you guys might like to/need to look at either when a situation arises, (like; "Just how do I set out signs and cones near this road junction?"), or, ("Who do I call now I've located a badger sett at the base of this tree?). Along with any hazard analysis data you have for your RAMS and the control methods/equipment lists and the training data sheets, (AFAG). Which is quite a lot of stuff. Which is why we have all ours on tablets. The guys can access all the data they need, read policies, handbook etc.
  8. Does invoice2go allow CRM too. From the website it looks like it just does quote/invoice. I couldn't see any management systems
  9. Please see the comments added to your post.
  10. Sale of Goods Act - Which?
  11. Spontaneous combustion I suppose then. Getting a bit tight for space were they.
  12. Urban Dictionary: Squamule
  13. Start with the end in mind. Ask yourself what you really want to achieve. Focus on that and endeavour not to deviate from your goals.
  14. Any halfway decent herbicide applied to the stump just after removing the tree will stop regeneration
  15. I think, and I'm willing to be corrected, that signing, lighting and guarding is all part of a legislative framework and is therefore a legal requirement regardless of which type of road if it is public highway. 2x M@W and some signs doesn't comply and so the contractor would be at fault if there was an incident.
  16. Helly Henson leggings, Harkie smock top. 'kin hate getting wet. My muscles suffer if I get cold. Plenty of dry changes. I use many t-shirts as I change every phase of a job if sweaty or wet. Always have done. Makes mucho washing, but then I have a wonderful wife.
  17. https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=200 it's probably this, not leaf miner.
  18. One of my old bosses used them in London for lime pollard regen. Very soft so it folds away nicely. This was before chippers were readily available and bonfires were ok.
  19. I'd say you're fortunate to be one of the few who can read what others are likely to do and be prepared for their inadequacies and ineptitude. Inconsiderate is a label that you may apply. I have been known, on occasion, to utter more Germanic labels. Even whilst speeding and undertaking. I was pulled over when I'd just passed my test. 88 in a transit minibus coming back down the M3 from Heathrow. The copper was very reasonable and let me off with a warning. The lesson has stayed with me all this time. 'Don't overtake a police car doing 90' and 'just because the mirrors are shaking so badly your rear view is blurred and you can't see clearly behind you, doesn't mean they're not following you.'
  20. New pension rules - employer duties tool | The Pensions Regulator
  21. Minimum employer contribution calculator | The Pensions Regulator
  22. What Is Automatic Enrolment | The Pensions Regulator
  23. Within a year or so all companies are going to have to do this by law. Auto-enrolment is coming our way. You're not stitching him up. There is nothing wrong with looking after your long-term interests. If an employer thinks so little of your input that he's not willing to contribute towards your pension, (something he'll have to do soon), he's not much of a boss. It's just another business cost that'll affect every business across the land, same as holidays, fuel and tax.
  24. So, book some road space for half a day. Get the weight off roadside and then fell it into the field. If he has a big trailer you might be able to process straight into it from the tree so he can run it round into the field, tip and chip/burn later. That way you can clear off the road pretty quickly if required to ease traffic flow.
  25. We'll assume you meant bailing, or you have a very patient wife:lol: Apologies for derailing, can't help with the poplar pricing.
