  1. Ganoderma on recently felled sycamore
  2. Ganoderma on a recently felled beech
  3. One of my better purchases ! I've even considered bringing it in for cosmetics when I get chance to freshen it up
  4. Are there no case mx models over there or 5140 5150 etc about? Think maybe 5130 still has the 6 cylinder Cummins in it
  5. It's not really a treat when it's a necessity..... it's a works tool. I dare say that saw is a good few years old.... work out how much it cost your per day = buttons. Just go buy a new one, it's off your tax bill and your back at work earning. No point pissing the Mrs off working on and old saw that might not be right in the end and still need to buy a fresh one. Time off and with family is worth more than that....
  6. Ahh right.... throw it in scrap pile and just buy a new one then
  7. Has no one ever seen older 200t or 026 etc with smashed oil casings at the front and folk have jb weld, epoxy resin up etc.... I've seen holes the size of pound coins and worse fixed. Getting rather fancy pissing about splitting an old saw for a bit of a leak like that. Clean it up maybe even little dremel down the casing line to set something for epoxy to sit in then blather it on
  8. Why not leave exhaust off then... wipe along the gasket. Hang the saw up and go make a brew. Come back out and see where the oil.is coming from? It's a fair big repair if you did it right. But why not if you find source of leak, drain tank, clean area thoroughly maybe even key with sand paper and clean area again then epoxy resin over the area? Might be worth a shot and it's what I would do to give the saw a chance

    Pete

Bloody good solid saws they are... I regret selling a very clean 026 I got off a farmer in near new condition to buy a 550 xpg just for the heated handles 🙃😅
  10. Is this chain oil at the front I hope?
  11. I never got fancy into scopes.... I think I remember mtc viper scopes when they first came out etc. My best scopes I had and still have one though neighbours got my shooting stuff is a Simmons white tail classic 3.5-10x50 made in Philippines probably a lot better out there now
  12. I remember my mate used to have one years ago... probably still does from when we used to go ferreting
  13. So your looking at 90's models but only issue is nostalgia has driven the prices up. Ford 7810 to much brass, mf399 too much brass and glad I swapped mine for a newer tractor. That leaves jd 3040 3050 3350 etc I do like 6 pot engines
  14. Yes I must admit the 90 can take 10" easy enough 😆 Same sort of thing as me though I'm still small.... on bigger jobs I use the 90xp and chip everything I can into a silage trailer ... if needs be and species and money right I'll remove in 2.5m length with the botex timber trailer. You end up with a yard full of gear but can handle a lot of eventualities
  15. That little opinel is smart! Might have to get one
  16. Suprising a jd 3040 3050 30k still be 10k ish
  17. I'd not entertain 30kph again. For me they hold too.much up on the road and resale not good. Straight for 40kph tractor. Wouldn't go smaller than a new Holland 7840 turbo, 8240 or 8340. Or case mx110 and above. Budget 15-20k though. Should get you a decent machine at that. Still have to spend some on it working out the niggles but in the end you've got something modern enough but not too complicated. Something that's up to the job and wick on the road. And semi comfortable. All you ever need really. Powershift transmissions also nice to drive either
  18. I've backed in allover due to this. 12" chippers can be productive even with less lads and as long as you've capacity then happy days. Mainly removing big hedges and big removals they're great. Chip packs in well and a lot better than logs. I'd rather take it back in chip than logs due to this
  19. Up until recently I've been using a 74hp bandit 90xp daily... Hell of a thing and I chip as much as I can fit in. We do a mix of works and it's overkill on a lot of jobs. That and price or parts and availability etc pissed me off for now and it's parked up. We also run a gm safetrack and bang for buck that's given me no issues and cost bugger all to run over the bandit. So much so I went out the other week and bought a road tow 1928 for daily works. I did see that vermeer for sale a while ago. It's been for sale a while. I cannot understand why the engines been rebuilt by 1200 hours and only 30 hours of running it they're getting shut. I would speak to vermeer on parts avaliblity aswell first. Ian flatters runs one also. Once you go big chipper it's hard to go back. I would just make sure your happy with the company your going to be dealing with as that means a lot! Also towing 2.5t around on domestics on tarmac etc wouldn't bother me. The 90xp is 1950kg... my safe track and trailer is approx 2500kg aswell
  20. I'd personally get my arse straight down to this wagon yard for a look around especially if you know the reg. **************** having a fast one pulled on you.
  21. Yup bit of needle blight then turning pink and thinning crown / die. Shame though as nice trees
