Other than on here, where do people look for groundies? young and keen. and most important waterproof! not a full time basis like a subbie. able to pay into bank and have tickets (basic) i have had people in for me in the past who' ve had no tickets, its good to have a labourer but it doesnt take any work load off me when it comes to saw work... colleges or anywhere else to check?

  8. Thats excellent! I once bought a contractor some wine etc but ended up working for other people in the new year lol still do bits here and there though, just wanted to show my appreciation to the contractor for using me as a climber!

  12. I remember when my and my lass went to winch out 12 conifer stumps 12" largest dia.... tirfor onto back of truck.... took some doing! even broke an old topping strop! Hard work but do able if thats all you have!

  15. I must have hit some stuff along the way then! but have done a lot with them think i'll buy another set and send the others back for sharpening... postage etc and charge for sharpening may outweigh the costs though.... they're 10.00 each last time i looked.

  21. even when split, its still a pain to keep any firewood dry, if you only have out door premisis! even when split! Royal pita!!
  22. These are big tree's though.... sticks 40-45 ft tall then 15-20ft topping growth... 28"-30" at base. sight back leans towards houses... Want some good rope etc
  23. Hi there, Just seeking some advice on what rope to get / wire for use with a tractor when pulling leaning tree's over.... and any other advice that can be given. I do have a decent steel cable with fixed eye's but this is too short! Also when you get steel cable, you are at a fixed length so it may suit one job but may be to long for another. I need it to be versatile, light ish and strong. Do people use decent ropes and use knots? Or use a portawrap to tension/attatch to the tractor? doesn't this put to much strain on porta wrap which would still need to be used for rigging operations... All help greatly appreciated!! Cheers
