  1. Curiously, 40% of all sick days are on a Monday or a Friday!
  2. Was the incident recorded in the accident book? Does it become a notifiable accident if he is off work for 3 days or more? It'll be off to prison for you - Slavedriver! None of my guys have ever had a sickie - they call me 'The Baskard' (I think that's what they said anyway)
  3. Strange - I wondered about that as I was typing my message:thumbup: RIP Trig, see ya Dave.
  4. Have a spare rake for cleaning over concrete/tarmac etc. Keep the good one for grass only and it will last 10 times longer. I haven't bought a new rake in over a year, and all the team watch out for rake abuse (using the grass rake on concrete). When mixing 2 stroke petrol ALWAYS put the oil in first - if you lose count the worst is you have an oily mix.
  5. I guess, as ever, there's good and bad in every walk of life. I must say that my local Stihl dealer has been excellent over the years. I've never had to rely on mail order. Keep up the good work Mat.
  6. Last time I did it there was a bloke who had built his wheels with off-centre hubs. As he rode along the bike was going up and down about 4 inches I'd guess. Don't know if he finished but it looked really funny.
  7. If youve missed some on ebay which were within your budget.... Did you bid on them? or does miss mean not see them till too late. I've give up trying to swoop at the last minute now. I just place a bid of what I would go up to and don't watch it. Just wait for auction to end and see how it goes.

    Unimog

I assume you need an operators license to run a 'mog?
  9. Don't fancy logging it up John?
  10. I bought a 265 in the end, it's heavier but a so far seems a lot more solid.
  11. The following is my opinion and not scientific fact... I can't watch this gutter-journo crud. It makes me mad and these programs are edited for sensationalisation. It's just a waste of time and cheapo TV. I'd rather get on and fix my 'leccy winch with the solenoids I just bought off ebay. It's REAL life to me, something I can do something about so B0110x to the scroungers. Not gonna waste my time.... zzzzzzzzzz
  12. I tend to do the diagonal cut first - then you can look down it to see the bottom cut line up.
  13. Aagh, I feel so ancient, I've got that album in my collection, next to the Yardbirds. No wonder I live in Worthing
  14. They will (and they have) take legal action so definitely DON'T.
  15. You may have been signed off for only 2 weeks but do they know what you do for a living? You can only go with how you feel, it depends on how much muscle (and other things) they had to cut to do the op. remember there will be untold bruising in there too. When you think about how you use your midriff area when you climb I'd say you need to take it easy- no point in breaking any of the repair work theyve done inside you, apart from haemmoraging (may be spelt wrong) you don't want to go back to square one. Listen to what your body is telling you, and heres to a speedy and full recovery.
  16. I didn't mean to sound harsh, forums are places to ask questions, its just that this has been a long running chestnut - you should be able to find loads of info on other threads on here. Maybe we need to have more search-encouraging home page????? Anyway, welcome to the forum.
  17. seconds away round one.... It is worth doing a search as there are many threads on this topic and it will save the same old people typing the same old comments
  18. The sort of person who hasn't got their tickets and still wants one will steal one rather than pay stupid money. Still, it's a free country so if someone is willing to pay that amount it's not the seller's fault.
  19. I agree with Ty, I have a 13hp and a 25hp pedestrian grinder and the 25hp one will keep running when its caked in mud under the flywheel housing, the 13hp one just stalls when it's caked. It also helps having driven wheels so you don't have to keep pushing/pulling, just swing it. And yes it can be driven up ramps. No doubt a few of the macho brigade will say anything under a billion HP is for wimps but I van say we make loads of dosh out of our grinders and we are still alive. Go for it.
  20. Based on what I've read on Landy forums, the newer, post 300tdi engines (though I've never owned one) are more powerful but the supporting electronics are complex and therefore V expensive to put right if they go wrong. With modern emissions regs that seems the way newer vehicles are having to go. Good luck
  21. Mine does anywhere between 22 and 30 something, but I don't really keep couont as I need it regardless. It's got a 300 tdi engine now, the old 19j unit was much worse and took about 15 seconds of pre-heating with glow plugs to start from cold. 300 tdi starts instantly in all weathers. More power too.
  22. You know you're in too deep when it starts seeping in through the sun-roof.
  23. It's got a 12 month return to base guarantee! And you get a tool kit to keep it running smoothly (a few more tools needed maybe - like a smelter and some stihl moulds). And you get a bag with it Come on guys what can you expect - a saw that cuts wood for at least 5 seconds. Won't catch me wasting money on Stihl and Husky stuff again.
  24. Excellent. Work will never be the same again. Terry Gilliamesque i'd say
