  1. Looks horrendous. I was amazed with the eloquent dialogue??? It takes that gut twice as long to talk with all those added expletives.
  2. I might be interested in a full set of valves/springs/collets etc. Maybe a complete head if it's compatible. I'll see what the local suppliers can come up with and get in touch. Thanks for the help. Now back to the garage to find those bleedin collets:confused1:
  3. Can't say I agree that job and knock doesn't work for a team. There's four of us, we don't rush, we just work hard and we know we work till the customer is totally happy. No compromise. I am not complacent and we get tons of repeat business. It's all about attitude. I've seen people with decades of experience mutilating trees (gob cuts to slow the growth for example). I've seen highly qualified bods who can't tell a fart from a hurricane. Give me someone with the right attitude and they will learn, and they will gain experience. Give me someone with bad attitude and I'll give them straight back.
  4. Maybe we should swap machines??? see my thread for my little disaster today. Never mind, we'll all be up and running soon. Good luck with it.
  5. Tried that, I've got one those little telescopic jobbies with a stupidly strong magnet on the end but no joy with the fishing technique.
  6. I should have said - having removed the head, the piston looks fine, just a tiny mark where the loose valve was touching while it was stopping.
  7. My Rayco 13hp stump grinder gave in today. When I took the inpsection cover off the cylinder head the upper valve spring seat on the inlet valve was only half there and the collet was gone. The valve was not moving. I know its worth rebuilding the head with new valves/springs etc but first I need to find the broken bits. The other half of the valve spring seat was still in the valve gear chamber so no worries but no sign of the collets. I have removed the engine, drained the oil and even flushed it through with petrol but NOTHING! On the assumption that it is mechanical suicide to run the machine with unknown bits rattling around inside I'm going to strip the engine while its out and maybe check it all over. Has anyone on here ever separated the crank case on a vertical-split honda engine? If so are there any knacks when it comes to removing the crankshaft from the end bearings? Any advice appreciated. Maybe if anyone has an idea how much the bits will cost:confused1: For reference its a single cylinder 390cc 2004 vintage, never let me down before! Cheers Shane
  8. Im in my hexadecimal 30s now (56) and crumbling, hence the need for yoof (and hard working ones at that).
  9. Looks like the description has gone through translation software. Maybe from swaheli? Must be someone from that area who could get in touch and see what they say. It might, of course, be genuine.
  10. To the good guys - Hussahhhhhhhh!!!
  11. All my team (they are all under 26 and wear hoodies) work very hard and very carefully. I've never had a complaint about them and I can leave them on a job knowing they will leave a good and lasting impression. They were all good friends at school so there is excellent banter but they all look out for each other and they all know that whatever they don't do as individuals the others WILL have to do. I cannot claim credit for this, it's how they are. But I think they are great and I try to treat them with a bit of respect. The rules are simple - 1. Work in a professional manner. 2. The job isn't finished till the customer is happy 3. When the days allocated jobs are finished you can all go home (regardless of how early). 4. Any problems - talk to me first. We sometimes finish as early as 12:00 but if a days money has been earned, then a days money is paid. This afternoon we spent 3 hours playing golf (paid for by yours truly). I do not accept that these guys are made of cheese, they work hard and they help me to run a profitable business. If they didn't I sure as hell wouldn't winge on this, or any other forum - I'd do something about it. Yours happily Shane
  12. Don't park it outside the training ground when Christiano Ronaldo is practicing free kicks.
  13. Given the prize I will guess 375 tons.
  14. No, but I hope we are all misunderstanding the issue here. I would err on the side of caution but how long does it take to rig down a tree doing it that way? OR is there another question weve all missed
  15. Stump-ground a load of the dozy fellows recently in a eucalyptus. Had someone hoseing them off as we went. Great fun.
  16. Things like this are like a cancerous diease to ebay. The more of these are publicised the more ebay should worry. I, for one, tend not to look on ebay for stuff any more. The cheap stuff is usually cheap for a reason and the decent stuff goes for stupid money. As many have said on this forum, sell your old kit on ebay and get stupidly good money for it. Replace with new and ENJOY! No doubt the ebay juggernaught will eventually shore up some of these scams - till then don't pay till youve seen it.
  17. I've had several 'delays' recently where the 8 weeks have gone by. All I do is phone my tree officer and he tells me if it has been approved (9 times out of 10 it has). It's often a case that cut-backs mean they are over-stretched and can't get the letters out quick enough. I personally would not assume it's OK after 8 weeks, especially of the client's request is something I know the Authority are likely to decline. Like people have said above, the TO is someone you will probably liaise with a lot over the years. A bit of patience/tolerance etc. now is a good investment for the future. It also maintains a professional image.

  19. I wonder which bar he uses on the chainsaw????? Amazing work.
  20. Thats on a par with their driving. Youtube is full of outrageous Russian accidents. It just seems to be the Soviet way.
  21. Not from that area but.... I believe there is a 'tip site' near Reading which is free (if you are quick) but gets quite pricey if you don't use false plates. That was last week's thread. Apologies for not being more helpful.
  22. 'Included bark' is a recognised call sign.
  23. That was called Silent Running. One of the best/most depressing films ever. Brilliant Not seen any Star Wars films but I know loads of people who love it.
