1. I'm well chuffed the bearings have done you well. I guess they did a good job fitting those new ones just before I sold it. IIRC you can put the lever through the plate you take off for the 'outer' knife, to see if there's any play. Just check every time you change the knives. Keep up the maintenance and all should be fine. Shane:thumbup:
2. Anyone who is anal about greasing should be avoided.
3. Can you rock the flywheel with the use of a lever? If you can hear any sort of noise or feel any movement get it checked out
4. They all have their pros and cons. Each salesman will remind you of the pros of his machine and the cons of the competitors. When the salesman moves to another company he simply alters his script. You have obviously noticed the bashing TW have had over bearings, I had one and that was my only gripe. I have a Greenmech now and don't really have any complaints. I have never owned any other make so cannot comment. Most people will be avid fans of the chipper they run , and more critical of the ones they used to run. At present Forst seem very popular - in a few years time who knows? Try a few makes and buy what works best for you. We all want a 100hp 24 inch easy grease beast that weighs under 750kg but nobody has made one yet - hmmmm -think I'll get the welding gear out later and have a go.
5. Good post, wrong title. Scavengers use things left behind that others dont want - like vultures. These were not scavengers (assuming you still wanted your chip box), they are low life thieves. Well done and Good luck
6. On my ms200s it's a break because thats what it does every few weeks! It does act as a brake for the chain in between replacements so I don't care how people spell it. They did used to last ages but I guess Stihl have new suppliers allowing them to compromise durability. Still, like all of us I suppose they are in it to maximise profit. Moan over
7. I believe the HSE have list of accidents (one for each industry) which details each fatality, though not mentioning specific sites/names. If you can find one (I think its on their web-site somewhere) you'll see a lot of the 'accidents' are a chain of unbelievable circumstances. It may seem macabre to look through, but it is an eye opener. If you can be sure that your method of working would avoid ALL the instances on their list, that would be something. We just need to keep working to avoid ANY POSSIBLE problem which could start off a chain of events leading to a nasty mis-hap. Just gotta keep thinking like a Darwinian.
8. I already have, asked to go look and cash on collection, because the last one from there was a scam! I'm waiting for a reply:thumbup:
9. Maybe it's legit? Zero feedback, be careful Carlton Sp4012 Stump Grinder, Wood Chipper | eBay
10. Amazing, talk about adapting to your circumstances. May not conform to our regs but he's getting some decent size rotting trees down using one arm and his mother as a groundie! I wonder if his mum put the line in the tree? I'd rather watch that video than the benefit/scrounger crap programs they show on TV. What a guy.
11. Not too good for anything other than vertical mutilation. Like to see it do a 10% thin out on an beech I won't be changing my career just yet.
12. If it was torched we can conclude it was not done by anyone with an interest in tree work or anyone who 'deals' in the used saw market. That rules out anyone who wouyld ever use this forum. Shame
13. Watch Top Gear, theres a petrol powered tool on that.
14. Harry, fair play for the reply, It may well be fine, just when I'm told no way I can look at it first and theres no collection.. it just raise the eyebrows. I wouldn't buy a saw I've not seen from someone I don't know. All the best with the sale.
15. That is one brilliant machine - its 749 kgs and will chip everything you throw at it. Maintenance is easy, the blades last ages. I love mine and would recommend these to anyone. Mines a 2010 machine which I bought for 10k with 15 hours on it. Hope that helps
16. Oh there's a lot of it about. Saw a saw on ebay that looked interesting, close to me but he will not allow pick up. I sent a message asking to look at it and guess what.. NO he's away on business. Ding ding ding - maybe he is, maybe not but if he's running a shop ??? It's this Husqvarna 394XP Petrol Chainsaw - Power Head - Engine Unit Only. | eBay Just be careful
17. Well - I witnessed a new level of narrow mindedness today. Did various bits for an established customer including the removal of a cordyline. As we were taking it down the neighbour came out and asked what we were doing with the 'logs'. We told him they are not highly favoured for burning and at the moment are soaking wet, by the time they dry out they'd go up like tissue paper. He said he would still like them - so we cut them into lengths (that is the only stuff the chipper doesn't really like) and smiled to ourselves. A few minutes later our customer came out and asked why we bothered cutting up the cordyline. When we told him the guy next door wanted it he turned into an alien! He said 'No, I'll have them, HE's not having anything of mine!' We explained that they are not good for logs but he insisted. He and his wife carried them into the back of the garden saying loudly 'Absolutely no way is he getting these' The neighbour had gone out by this point so I don't know what happened later. Just amazed that a saddo would rather keep a pile of shite than let his neighbour have it.:confused1: Can't complain, he paid up and we only had a few leaves to take away.
18.
Hi, I could be interested in your truck, where abouts are you?

19. Don't soldiers sign up voluntarily? If you were offered £300,000 a week to do some sort of sport, would you decline because it is too much? It is outrageous but until sky televise war with pay per view soldiers are 'worth' so much less.
20. Excellent question. Tulip tree, Cedar of Lebanon, baobab But then I'd want more
21. 10 inch plastic gas main pipe (strapped onto chipper output chute) to get chippings into back of defender while the tipper was being fixed. Didn't look professional but no mess at all - just a bit of carnage on the tinwork in the landy
22. I can't believe he's attaching the questions to the listing - tee hee. Next time I sell a saw on ebay I'm gonna suggest it's a scam, then I'll get a much better price.
23. Apparently he does take credit cards, while the owners aren't looking.
24. I'm gonna send him a question asking if he takes credit cards.
