  1. Well I've got to say they are very fast indeed. looks like they leave multi-tip for dead. You can see the difference and feel it - our grinder just went into the stump like a knife through butter. Pushing downwards you can hardly believe the speed. On the slew its similar to multi tip, maybe a tiny touch slower. I used 4 rhinos on the outermost slots and found that leaving the old multitips on the innermost two slots was best for clearing the debris. Just sharpened a couple of the teeth today on the greenstone grinder and it was easy. I just want to test the sharpened teeth now and will report back. Just to confuse things I've fitted greenteeth (1100s) to my rayco 13hp and they too are astonishing. Now I don't know what to do next.
  2. Got a reply! 'Oh really. I only put it as £5.00 as I just want to get rid of them. However, I might give it a go since no one has got back to me about it.'
  3. Good luck to them - if theres just one person on the planet who is stupid enough they are laughing. I couldn't resist sending a message saying it's worth a lot more than £5.00 though.
  4. Some of the modern transits (bless dear old Ford) cannot be bump started. Apparently the diesel injector pump can get damaged - leading to an expensive repair. Happened to a colleague of mine who is a member on here. No doubt lots of other engines are tha same.
  5. One of the resue crew told me that they use coded messages over the tannoy so the public don't get unduly alarmed. Announcements asking a particular person to contact the Info desk etc. I guess that makes sense - when I worked in a cinema we had to use the word 'sand' instead of 'fire' for the same reason. I recently read that the daimler driver who died had let someone out ahead of him, they were the last car to clear the lights on green. He stopped on the red and then..... It just shows that life can be a lottery - all we can do is minimise the more obvious and potentially self-inflicted problems. Be safe out there.
  6. Not as complex as the story behind 'Debbie does Dallas' - that was real ART.
  7. I've known many of these from saplings.
  8. Having seen a lot of good words on here about Spud's magical skills with saws I decided to have my next tune-up done by the maestro. Best thing I ever did! Spud asked what the issues were, then gave me a couple of options both competitively priced. He has converted two 'lumpy' MS200s into responsive beasts. Postage arrangements are top notch and his communication is spot on. Many thanks and another recommendation for Spudulike.
  9. Don't worry - I've found the previous thread. Thanks - my dozy fault for lazy searching.
  10. I've just had a call from a customer telling me that her goat willow is attracting loads of wasps. Apparently they are not nesting on it but are all over it and on the ground below. She thinks they are after something thats coming out of the tree - I will not be able to get round there till tomorrow so in the mean time I wondered if anyone has any theories on what might be going on. I will, of course, report back with more info and piccies when I have them. I vaguely recall something like this on here before but cannot find it.
  11. The father of one of my groundies is a fireman at Worthing and he attended the scene. I spoke with him this morning - it would not be appropriate to repeat most of what he said, lets just say the casualty numbers are bound to rise. Thoughts go to all those touched by these events.
  12. That picture is horrific. In the bottom right corner you can see a bunch of people turning and running. On the news tonight they said the police are still searching the site for any other victims - unspeakably horrible way to go.
  13. Just got back from Shoreham Air Show. Couldn't believe my eyes - felt so helpless as the hunter failed to complete the manouver. Thoughts and prayers go to the families of all who lost their lives today.
  14. Not a mis-hap by the customer but a mis-hap by the DNA helix. We were working at a block of flats in Worthing whan a couple of folks came out, they had big fluffy puppets on their arms (about the size of Orville) and they asked us (via the puppets) if we would like a cup of tea. Mind you they did make nice tea.
  15. At least it doesn't say 'not stolen'. Anyone remember a stump grinder advertised in Sussex which actually said that!
  16. How much are they new? How much work has it done? Why is he selling it? Why a cheap buy it now price? Message him and ask if you can go look at it - the response to that will tell you something. Personally I'd never buy a 2nd hand saw off ebay, sell em- yes, but not buy.
  17. Mine is rubbish too - It was empty after three days. What use is that?
  18. I'm not advocating going out of your way to avoid supermarkets, just fill up when you are passing a local 'real' garage. Funny how lots of people on here slag off customers for going for the cheapest quote rather than quality then they fill up at Tesco or Sainsburys because..........
  19. The supermarkets are killing off the smaller garages. If you look round any town now and compare it to 20 or 30 years ago - how many petrol-providing garages have gone? I always try to fill up at a small local garage and will happily spend 1 or 2p a litre more. That is 50p -£2 depending on how empty the tank is BUT it saves going to a supermarket, it saves me queuing up and it will (hopefully) maintain a bit of competition. Remember the threads about supermarkets getting high and mighty about filling of combi cans? Never had that with most of my local garages. Yes,I have a thing about the big supermarkets, they screw the suppliers something rotten, they provide what gives them the biggest profit margins NOT what people would buy given the choice. The details of my loathing really belong in another thread so I'll stop there.
  20. The ironic fact that the most common abbreviation actually takes nine syllables to say instead of the three it would take to say the actual words..... Anyone???? World wide web - abbreviated to doubleyoooo (occurs 3) Yeeeeuch!
  21. What really grind my gears.... Con artists claiming your great grandfather recently died in Nairobi leaving you millions... all you have to do is send a few quid for the solicitors to release the funds. Hackers really pee me off. A lot of the time they just do it for fun, mucking up a load of poor buggers' PCs just for some perverse kick. They must have very small genitals.
