  1. Customers who accept your quote, book you in then later on cancel. Had one on Sunday, didn't answer the door so I phoned him, no reply. Started driving home when he phoned back so back I go (only about 2 miles so saved a longer trip). We discussed what he wanted and he agreed to my price, and booked it in. Yesterday I got a text (the preferred option of time-wasters) telling me his old tree surgeon mate had just, coincidentally, phoned him so He will use him instead. Why do some people accept a quote when they know they have more to come? It makes such a mess in the diary.
  2. Could you search for tree surgeons in your area on them? If there arent many then it may be worth a punt.

Anyone know where I can get a passport and driving license for my cat?
  4. It is here too now. Don't tell me you never got any of it all of 3 miles away. PS can you see the Cedar Garage blimp from your place? Bet they wound that down this morning.
  5. My record is 13 5ltr placcy cans, only queried last week at our local texaco garage. I was surprised as it is manned by oriental gentlemen who are famous for getting on with business rather than flapping about regulations. As others have said discretion works wonders.
  6. That was close! 2 seconds between lightning and 'kin loud bang. The chipper is getting soaked - think I'll call it a day. Wimps from Worthing.
  7. Shite - Absolutely pelting down here lots of flashes and loud bangs. I might even let my climber come down in while. He is very wet indeed.
  8. Helpful words from Pete there... If youve been feeding logs like those in your avatar through it no wonder it needs the anvils turning.
  9. Mr Git.... that is an excellent question to start with.
  10. All shook up by Elvis Apparently Elvis the pelvis had two brothers - Enis and Rick
  11. I thought this thread was about getting rid of an unpopular footballer???
  12. Yes please that sounds useful. I'm currently bidding on a go Kart chassis which will form the basic start point. Please feel free to PM your details and I'll arrange to collect it, happy to make a suitable donation for it. Cheers Shane
  13. Jeez Stubby, that's shocking. Hopefully they will get your cough sorted, then do something to de-gruffalo your face. All the best!
  14. Well, they got back to me today and I will be trying out the rhino teeth on my grinder in the next few days. Assuming they arrive safely - watch this space, I'll report back.
  15. PS Yes I've seen the metal one that sold at Bonham's auctions ,very pre-unimog
  16. My grandson's first birthday is coming up, he's too young yet but I'm thinking of next year. I've been looking at sit-on pedal powered/ 12v cars but nothing really novel. I was thinking of making him a plywood tipper truck. Knowing how lacking I am in originality I'm wondering if anyone on here has done it already and might be able to make any suggestions, any piccies?. Any help will be massively appreciated otherwise I'll be depending on my own design and engineering skills:thumbup: Thanks in advance, and yes, I would like the tipper to work properly.
  17. Starting to sound good. If there was a dealer nearer to me I'd go have a look.
  18. Fair enough, Steve, I'll leave my cynicism aside.
  19. Is Niall a genuine independent reviewer? It reads like a classic sales quote to me. Having bought the Echo telescopic pruner on the recommendation of some on here - my findings are far more disappointing than I would have hoped. As ever its all about opinions so its important to know the background of those who put them forward.
  20. Ha ha ha - Never encountered a company that seem so dis-interested. I left an email message via the web site and left a phone message. After a few days I phoned for the fifth time and got an answer. I was told that the teeth are usually supplied with a cutting wheel only (what about spares for those who buy those????). He said he would get back to me - ho ho ho no idea how long ago that was. If thats what their service is like I'll give them a miss. I'm not allowed to mention the company but you can track them down via a google search. They specialise in small 'hand held' grinders named after a range of european mountains followed by an oval chocolate covered ice cream starting with M. I'm looking elsewhere
  21. Sorry hammy, your inbox is full so I'll have to put this on here. Please go see a doctor/specialist asap. Some years ago my mother in law had something like these symptoms and it eventually turned out to be a malignant tumor in her throat pressing on the vocal cords. Its 99% likely not that but a quick diagnosis is important. She was 70 and by the time they finished faffing about it was too late to treat. Don't let the feckers fob you off
  22. Do the trees show on Google earth view?
  23. You could even go for ISO9000 accreditation. As long as you publish performance targets and can be seen to meet them then away you go! An example could be that you never lose more than one team member on any job, or at least 2% of customers are satisfied. As long as you can prove you meet these targets you will be highly respected as a Quality company. The world will be your clam.
