  1. Many thanks for all the suggestions, I should have a day soon to do some maintenance in the shed, so will have a look then. It's a 2008 model and had done a fair bit of work before I got it, stripped it down as much as I dared when it arrived and cleaned everything, as has been said I've never had it happen on any of the other saws before.
  2. Spudulike, I'll try and do that asap and let you know, is it an easy job to remove the muffler, or any tricks I should know about? Thanks
  3. No, it's all clean, replaced spark plug and fuel filter when I first bought it, took it to bits as much as I dared and checked for worn bits, not confident enough yet to dive into the engine without advice or assistance
  4. Have done a search but found nothing, so apologise in advance if this has been asked before. Was using the 880 yesterday, it started ok and ran fine until it warmed up, power started to drop off noticably, so turned it off. As I'm a mechanical numpty, I'd like to ask what the likely problem is? Is it worth sorting out or is it terminal? The saw is about three years old, was bought used, from a bloke that milled with it, about a year ago. Worked ok for a couple of jobs, this occured after about 15 minutes discing up a pine trunk. Thanks
  5. You prepared to put time in, you can learn a massive amount from Mike Allen, it's worth looking into the courses they do at Easton, good luck m8.
  6. Most impressive thing was the mass disappearing act by the rope pullers when the neighbour turned up to inspect the precision fell
  7. A railway qualified worker/lookout (Personal Track Safety)
  8. The alder we get around here burns great, more than happy to have it on the heap
  9. done the same number of loads since september as the whole of last season, they have gone mad for it around here, not complaining though :-)
  10. fountains took over the city gang (connaught)
  11. Looking to get a new 3ft bar for my 880, had a Stihl Duromatic on it when I bought it, going to be used for felling rather than milling work. What other bars are worth considering? Thanks for any help.
  12. Can't say it happened to me personally, but the small firm I used to work for had a friendly visit from the contracts manager, during the course of the following conversation he was greatly impressed with 'those handy looking little saws (ms200)', boss took the heavy hint but wasn't going to go down that route, funnily after that we never got any local contracts (within 50ish miles, which by coincidence was this blokes area) all our work was then national stuff.
  13. Another vote for Freeworker, always good to deal with when I was there.
  14. class
  15. Well done, enjoy the feeling
  16. Can't really say anything about the others boots, but had three or four pairs of Haix Protector, always lasted me a good while, comfy from the first time I've put them on, much better lasting than the elten/oregon ones I had in the past
  17. Is that the next size up from a cockerdoodle? Pleased that you are getting a new m8
  18. addictive and feeds a destructive tendancy :-)
  19. Love it, think I'll run it through a sound system when delivering, like an ice cream van :-)
  20. You looking at new or used? Had five Hilux over the years and never had any trouble with any of them, had one ranger and I hated the thing, not saying they are all bad, but that one was a pig, glad to see the back of it.
  21. The miget had high heels as well
  22. Love my 460, it replaced an old well used and well loved 044 (after some sticky fingered git nicked it), was tempted by a 441 but went for the tried and tested, rather than any potential teething troubles with a new saw. Not saying thing bad about the husky, just never been keen on them, also got a stihl dealer on my doorstep, anything for the easy life
  23. replied via pm m8
  24. Would love that, might be a bit over kill in the woods though, but who cares ;-)
