  1. Love the pictures, still doesn't make me miss doing it though. Worked in the private broad the opposite side of the river, keep up the good work
  2. thought it was this one http://www.hpoc.co.uk/community/index.php?showtopic=36456&hl=deer
  3. I know most of the tree gang, good bunch of boys, really feeling bad for them, hope something can be arranged for them.
  4. Can't recommend them enough, great to deal with and very reasonable prices
  5. Another big thanks to Spud, bought my 880 back yesterday, has done a superb job on it (been playing with it today on an oak butt) Many thanks for the work and great service m8
  6. I go through phases of saw buying, recently bought one to store as a replacement for my oldest saw (for when it eventually gives up). Having to sell one at the moment to make room for the new one in the safe. They all get used regularly, even though they are all in good order I still can't stop looking at other saws
  7. Bit of a trek from North Norfolk, but there is an arboretum at Lynford, near Thetford (part of Thetford Forest, a Wellingtonia avenue as well near the hotel/hall).
  8. Ty Sheringham Park (National Trust) not far from Felbrigg and got some interesting stuff.
  9. No problems, I finished working there about 3 years ago, but as far as I know they are still playing with trains, had a fleet of unimogs that were fun as well ;-)
  10. Not sure if they are looking m8, but I used to work for Avondale Environmental Services based in Kent although we worked all over the UK, lots of work around Birmingham and the midlands. Worth a try contacting them, not a bad lot to work for.
  11. Taking a hung up windblow down, everything going fine until the very last cut, soon as it hit the ground the little stingy bar stewards got very annoyed, stung about 8 times and the dog in the truck (about 40ft away) stung twice. They didn't get another chance to annoy me, applied some very effective wasp exterminator :-)
  12. Sorry for the delay in replying. The couriers were the problem, not the makers or dealer, both of who are great to deal with (especially Rob, the bloke listing it on eBay) Machine is sturdy enough and works just fine on the back of the tractor, waist high bed might be ok if you are no taller than 5ft, but putting a pallet under the base sorted that out. It has been splitting everything from red oak to birch with no hassles, although it's new so shouldn't be a problem anyway. Got the four way head as well and one side table, again both solid enough and it's easy to change between two and four way split heads (six bolts) Hope that helps m8
  13. Looking good Steve Woodpicker - as spud says it's only a 2007 saw, I bought it second hand, not sure what it had been used for but there was plenty of tar/gunk coating most of external areas and inside the chain cover, it hadn't been looked after, not sure how used to using saws the previous owner was. I used it on a couple of jobs before it let me down, couldn't risk it recently so bit the bullet and bought a new one from Jonsie, so once this one has had some 'spud love' it'll be for sale ;-)
  14. I should have one being delivered next week, I thought they looked reasonably solid and not a bad price. Was going to build one myself, but time being tight and the materials costing so much just seemed quicker to buy a complete unit. I'll let you know how I get on
  15. Mentioning pies has made me hungry Yes, between you all you've answered the question I asked, thanks Sure it'll all work out on my new 880 thanks Jonsie
  16. Another fan of Jonsie, ordered my new saw, great price and fast delivery, can't fault them
  17. Thanks Rob, would the rim and sprocket just be off the shelf from the local dealer, are they a standard size item (same as a ms660)? Looking at the 25" bar and chain, pm sent
  18. Thanks Alec, the chain I have is the 1.6mm
  19. What would I need to get an MS880 to run a 3/8th chain? Would like to be able to make chains from the same reel as all my other saws run. Want to use a 25" bar as well as the 36". What sprocket would be the best? Anything else I should change/know? Thanks people
  20. Thanks for the help people, I'll pm you Spud.
  21. Think that's what I'm going to do Rob. I bought it for a specific job (which it did and more since) but have some more large work coming up so need it fully sorted or a new unit. Not sure if I'll keep it for spares or sell on, depends what price I can get offered for it. Anybody got a rough idea of it's value as a non runner/spares only saw?
  22. Many thanks Spud, for the advice and the offer. I looked for the OEM replacement bits and think it was about £400, just for parts (p&c). The saw was second hand (2007 model bought 2009) since which I've never had old fuel in there, it had been worked hard by the previous owner judging by the state of it when I got it home. I can do repairs up to a decent level, but think I'd better get someone who knows what they're doing to repair it. Although not sure weather to repair or replace (if I can find a decent second hand saw or good price on a new one) and sell on this one, I assume it has a value even as a non runner?
  23. Had the exhaust off today, piston looks scored (certainly not smooth) and the rings look to be worn, but not evenly over the small area I can see. Is it safe to say that piston and cylinder would best be replaced (not had the cylinder off and can't see into it to see what damage is there) rather than just the piston? Is it a job only for the professional or a do-able one for me? Thanks peeps
