  1. Nice don't suppose you've got any unwanted tools lying about? I'm after some snap on stuff....
  2. Out of interest why do you prefer an outboard clutch?
  3. Didn't know you could get heated handles on the 550! Never brought a new husqvarna before though... new territory for me i've always had stihl purely for the reason i just like the feel of them, husqvarnas always seem a bit "plasticey" to me.. but thats just my opinion! Think i'll have to try one first
  4. I'm after a new small/light saw, I like the idea of a husqvarna 560 with heated handles, but they are a bit noisey! Are there any other recommendations? it doesn't necessarily have to be a pro saw. It'll just be used for the usual cutting up brash, small fells etc etc. Been using the 461 for day to day stuff and its getting a bit heavy haha! either that or i'm getting week which is more than likely
  5. Nice little fireplace any pics of it being made? is it Oak? I'm looking at doing things like this with some of the wood i have milled.
  6. Have you got an AS mower then? i have been looking into them and wandered whether to get one, although the speed of them seems very slow.
  7. You must have some good blokes working for you!
  8. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm looking for a mower that can box and mulch and the toro mower looks like it could be what i'm after but i just have a few questions about it. How long have you had it and have you had any problems with it so far? Is it belt driven or shaft driven? cheers, James.
  9. Would not worry about it. If you know what it costs to run your business stick to your price. If you use good kit and went in at £200 and your saw broke the job could end up costing you money,
  10. But surely your hitting the crank when you loosen the nut off????
  11. Just a quick questions how does everyone remove the flywheels from stihl chainsaws and hedge cutters? Do you have a special tool or just use a small puller? cheers, James.
  12. The bahco one looks good is the 138piece the largest set they do? Or do they have bigger sets?
  13. Thanks for the help, I presume I would get a similar effect if I brought a mulching kit for my Honda hrh 536hxe?
  14. Does anyone know of a decent mulching mower? Currently using an ariens 21, but its on its last legs. I'm after something with the option of boxing the cuttings and preferably shaft driven rather than belt.
  15. I use to use a lawnflite but after about two years of use we started to have problems with the gearbox. so now its just kept as a spare. Back on to honda 536's now, can't fault them strong reliable parts are easy to get. Does not pick up the grass as well in the wet as the lawnflite, but hey ones about 10years old and still going strong....
  16. Hi guys just wandering what shows are going on this year. I have heard the ARB show is at westonbirt this year and wandered if many of you are going?. Just wandered if there are any other shows people from arbtalk go to as well? Cheers, James.
  17. Anyone running a transit tipper with the newer 125 engine in it i currently have the old 115 and wandered if its still a reliable engine? Also is the 125 turbo diesel or just diesel? I honestly havn't taken much notice of what my 115 is!!! Just doing a bit of research before i trade in my old one!
  18. Thats an awesome job adam, hopefully one day i'll be able to achieve something as good as that! How long did it take you?
  19. Thanks for the info, out of interest did you advertise the job to find your extra employee?
  20. At the moment i'm just trying to earn as much as i can while i'm young (24) hoping to then downscale again when i'm older and have more of a lifestyle being my own boss etc. I have thought about subbies it just finding a good one in my area, also ideally they need to have all thier own kit and transport. This obviously means i will have to pay them more and my margins would decrease. But i think that is the best method to look into.
  21. I've got three large beech butts to mill all around 2foot diameter. But was wandering which is the best way to mill them? Would quarter sawn be to much effort for such small boards and would it be worthwhile? or should i just go for through and through planks? but they may bow etc with drying. I am thinking of milling one of them into 5inch square posts as well for a bench i intend on making with them. Any ideas would be most helpful!
  22. OK Thanks any particular models i should look out for?
  23. Could anyone recommend a smaller set of decent step ladders to use say 5 or 6 rungs for the smaller hedge work i do? the ones i currently use are a bit lightweight and have seen better days...
  24. Ok thanks for the help, do you know of a good make/brand of bandsaw as well by any chance? might have a look into that as well...
  25. I'm on the look out for a saw to go in my workshop to cut down wood to size etc, nothing too detailed. And was wandering which type of saw to go for? I've been looking into the Dewalt 743 table saw as i know where one is going for sale second hand. Does anyone have any experience of these saws and what are they worth second hand?
