  1. Cheers will probably look into that a bit later then! is the new exhaust easy enough to get hold of? Have you got heated handles on yours? My hands always seem to get warm from the exhaust when I'm ringing up anyway!
  2. I did the same as you in the end as well. Brought a 660 in Feb/March this year. I thought a tried and tested saw is better than a new un-tested version. How are you finding yours? I've got a 36" bar on at the moment and am thinking of putting a 30" on it instead as i think it would be a nicer size to handle. When i got mine they didn't have heated handles in stock and was worried I wouldn't be able to get one before the 661 was re-released so didn't get them. i haven't really missed them yet though how about you? I think its just more to go wrong as well lol!
  3. Cheers for the advice guys. Out of interest what sort of air filters do the huskys run? anyone got any pics/or had any issues with them?
  4. Nice job how long did it take you on your own with clear up etc?
  5. Ok thanks may give that a go the next time I'm milling then. Will the saw loose power because of it though?
  6. I've got the new hd2 type its a 2014 saw so will it need a different backplate or should it already have one?
  7. I've got a 660 which i sometimes use for milling and find the air filter gets clogged up quite easily when using it. Is this a common fault and is there something i can do about it? Obviously i don't want any dust getting into the carb..... Cheers guys
  8. I've had my new pair of protector pros for under a year now and some of the lining inside has formed a lump so that it presses on my foot. Is it worth taking these back? my last pair lasted about 3 years so quality seems to have slipped.
  9. No projects about?
  10. There are some nice land rovers in here! Finished rebuilding a 89 90 a year ago, i'll try and get some pics up! Did it just as a hobby but am now looking for a series 2 to rebuild as well. Anyone know the best place to look for one? (apart from the obvious auction sites) I don't mind what condition as long as its complete and original.
  11. How many miles had yours done when you replaced the chain? On start up it is a bit noisey/rattly but i think its just the hydraulic tapets as once its warm it seems fine.
  12. Also does anyone know wehere i can find a service interval book for them which says how many miles you should replace things like belts clutches etc etc?
  13. Mines had a new flywheel and clutch as well along with a few other wearing parts, had a problem with the injectors too but that was sorted. Part of the reason i'm reluctant to change the vehicle is i know the history of it and what work its already had. So its just how long its actually worth keeping tbh. Vehicles are always a bit of a gamble as whoever you ask they've all got there own opinions and different experiences with them!
  14. Whats wrong with the new ones then? Iwas thinking of just getting another transit if i replaced this one.
  15. Just wandering how many miles peoples transits have done? I've got a 56 plate with almost 110000 miles on the clock and was wandering at what mileage i should consider getting a new one? Its had a few issues recently brake servo leaking and crankshaft pulley falling off!
  16. Ok thanks for the help, would it be something most dealers would do then? I wouldn't think they'd want to mess with the factory settings?
  17. OK thanks i will look into doing that then if its a simple fix. Is the linkage plate on the engine? I havn't got the mower nearby to have a look at, and am not that familiar with it yet! how would you be able to measure the revs if i adjust it? Sorry for all the questions! Cheers, James.
  18. I recentley purchased a john deerd c52ks and have been using it a lot this week. So far i am impressed seems like a good mower and seems to chuck the grass out well. The only issue i have with it is its single speed and is slow compared with my old victa 550 pro mulch. I have been using the John Deere on the same jobs the victa was used for and definately am losing some time, especially the ones where i need to mow a large area. Is there any way i can alter the speed?
  19. Looks like a good job, i'd like to do more landscaping jobs. But quoting scares me with them, theres always something i'd forget! How long do you reckon it took you to quote for the job itself?
  20. I thought a lot of building work was done using green Oak, how does that work then?
  21. I was thinking square legs and oak as i have some milled up ready, it although is green i presume it would still be ok to use?
  22. I've been thinking about making a work bench for sometime to go in my shed, and was just wandering if anyone has done anything similar? Just looking for ideas/designs at the moment. I want it rustic looking, i'll be using wood i've milled myself as well. Cheers!
  23. OK cheers for this got myself a bit od 6 x 1 board. How many nails do you put in a long the length of it to hold it down to the wood to be lilled? Just enough so its held on flat? I don't want to put to many holes in the wood i want to use!
  24. Ok Cheers for that so would it be better to cut all the wood up it butts first? To stop any more sap rising? Also where did you get the plastic tie wrap things from? That you use to hold your stacks together does it stop a lot of movement in the boards when drying? At the moment i'm doing mostly square posts so i can continue doing that for the summer then its just the boards that would be more likely to crack/split etc. All the wood i'm milling is Oak btw! Sorry for all the questions! bit of a newbee to this!
  25. I've still got a fair bit of millling i want to do this year. But i was wnadering with the weather getting warmer when do you guys tend to stop? I want to mill some 4x2 and 4x4 posts for a work bench i want to make if it makes any difference!
