  1. Might look into that one as well then, although i really want a mulching machine anyway.
  2. When will the 661 be available again then????
  3. Thats a good point i think i'll still try and get a 660 then. Most people say it is a good reliable saw. But its getting hold of a new one that is such a pain at the moment.
  4. Cheers for the reply yeah i may try it out first. I'll only use it as a rear discharge machine with the bung type thing removed at the back of the mower.
  5. Does anyone know anything about these mowers? Are they any good or do they tend to block up like some mowers when the grass is to long or wet? I've been offered a second hand one and just wandered if it was worth buying? Never used etesia mowers before myself but seen a few contractors using them.
  6. Do you think a 660 would be ok to mill with a 36" bar on it or will it be asking a bit much of the saw?
  7. Cheers for that how do you like the 660 for milling, i'm looking at getting one soon... Also in video 4 whats the black contraption attached to the saw at 1:12?? Cheers, James
  8. Is the 661 that much better than the 660 then?
  9. Haha! maybe he'll be able to shed some light on the issue then!
  10. Any updates for this thread??
  11. I've been waiting since the beginning of February for a 660 to come into my local stihl supplier since the 661 got recalled. Just wandered if anyone else has had the same problems? Also does anyone know why the 661 was recalled in the first place? makes me wander about stihls reliability.. Cheers, James.
  12. Got exactly the same set up! Love it
  13. I have a couple of contracts that are only carried out fortnightly/monthly and the grass is too long for collection or mulching by then so side discharge is the only option. (they are rough areas anyway so it does not matter if the grass is left on top). I'm not really limited to using a two stroke mower but i have to have one that will be ok to use on banks. TBH I think the selction is quite poor for 21" mulching/side discharge mowers. the only other mower i like the look of is the JD c52ks: https://www.deere.com/wps/dcom/en_INT/products/equipment/commercial_mowing/commercial_walk_behind_mowers/c52ks/c52ks.page Have you used one of these before?
  14. No unfortunately havn't had chance yet! But hopefully i might get chance tomorrow, asked my local dealer after PM'ing you about it and they didn't have one in stock . So may have to look into going further a field to find one to look at! Do you know any JD Dealers out Hampshire way?
  15. I know a local joinery shop but their planer/thicknesser is not very wide so could probably only accept boards up to 12" wide i reckon. Which is a bit annoying otherwise it would of been a no brainer! Might have a look around to see if there is anyone else near me. either that or by a hand planer myself!
  16. Cheers for the info gavin. I run HRH536 Hondas for cutting lawns when i need to collect the cuttings. But i was looking for something with a side discharge when i don't need to collect the cuttings which the AS mowers seem to have, they are also two stroke so i can use them on banks. I havn't seen many about thats why i asked the question. Did you use any of the side discharge mowers that were two stroke?
  17. Has anyone heard of these mowers? I have been looking at getting a mower similar to our old victa and the two stroke version of these seem pretty similar. Just wandered if anyone uses them/ know anythnig about the make? Here is a link to the one i'm interested in: AS Motor > Manufacturers > Home > Best Buy Mowers
  18. I've got a fair few planks of Oak that i have milled now and am wandering what the best method would be to get the surface of the planks as smooth as possible? I was thinking a sander or maybe a planer? Cheers, James.
  19. I have a standard mesh visor on my helmet and lately i have been finding I still get a few woodchips going into my eyes, it may be something to do with all the high winds we are getting when we are working! But i need something to help stop this from happening as i don't want my eyes to get damaged. Anyone got any suggestions as to what i could wear maybe some googles/specs? Cheers, James
  20. Nice work! I've got some oak similar to that to mill up, what saw/mill are you using and how thick are you milling the boards?
  21. Nice bit of firewood there! what saws are you running in the 1st and 4th pic? Lokk like 880s on short bars?
  22. Nice Vid! Would be cool to do something similar!
  23. Anyone used one of these? looking for a side discharge mower and wandered if this was any good? Key features | HRS536SD | Lawnmowers | Lawn & Garden | Honda (UK)
  24. Do you do it so both blades are on top of each other then you can do both sides at once??
  25. Just a normal grinding disc for a 6" grinder (although the one i use is worn down to only 2-3" diameter so its easier to handle)
