  1. Some amazing reductions in this thread! How long did it take for you to do that beech rob? I'm only just learning to do reductions so they take a while!..
  2. 171, old husq 50, 362, large jonsered (30" can't remember the model) so i'm really missing a medium size saw thats why i was going for the 441/461
  3. Do you have the new 441 with m tronic?? I'm thinking of either getting a 441 or 461 but can't make up my mind lol!
  4. If you could only have 3 ground saws for work what saws would you go for that would cover most situations?
  5. Cheers for the input Tapio the 441 has the electronic tuning system thing which i'm not to sure about as i've had no experience with it, is it as reliable as the 461? I think i'd prefer to have a more solid machine in my hand tbh. I don't suppose you've used a 372xp? that would be my other consideration as it is similar horse power to the 461 but comes with the heated handles (if i really wanted them!) A few people seem to rate them as well on here.
  6. Yeah i see the 372 does... whats the opinion on that saw?
  7. The thing i liked about the 441 was it had the choice of heated handles, i know its a bit fussy but would have liked to of had that option with the 461. In an ideal world i would have brought the 461 with heatedhandles. Does the 441 have a few problems with it then?
  8. ..But i don't have much experience with the new husqvarnas, so don't know about thier reliability etc/ what problems they have!
  9. Cheers for your thoughts guys its either that or i go with something like a 390xp?? or 372/576xp which are a bit smaller.
  10. I've only been in business for half a year and i already feel stressed out. I'm working 11-12 hour days at least 6 days a week. Then on my day off i end up doing paperwork anyway. Its like i can't get away from it. I'm young, only 22 so maybe i've taken on too much to quick? I employ someone full time at the moment and we have plenty of work. I also feel a bit anxious at jobs, worried that i'll miss something or leave something behind so i end up checking my work and everything before i leave. Just thought i'd post it up!! James.
  11. Cheers the 460 is only a tiny bit more powerful than the 441 will do you really notice a difference?
  12. I need a new medium saw and was wandering what people thought of the 441 or 461? I was thinking 441 with heated handles? but are there more advantages from a bit more hp from the 461? What do you guys think? i'll be running it on a 20" bar most of the time but i will have still have the option of going up to a 25" ifd i need to. Cheers James
  13. Cheers guys will bear you all in mind!

    Running in?

I know some people say not to run in new chainsaws and others say to take it easy for the first few tankfulls. But what about new hedge cutters i suppose its the same principle? although most of the time you use them at full chat anyway?? Just a thought as i've just brought a nice new stihl hs 81t and want it to last a while...!

    Husqvarna 50!

Cheers for the help guys! Spudulike, they both currently have 182 bars on them and it is VERY slow cutting so i think i'll get a smaller bar for them, may even go for the 13" as i won't be using it for anything big. Or maybe the 15" with a 1.3 gauge. The only problem with them is the on/off switch doesn't work is it a quick fix?? or shall i just leave it (i stop them by putting on the choke atm)

    Husqvarna 50!

I have two husqvarna 50's in my shed their in running order. one has a white top to the casing the other is all orange. Does anyone know anything about these saws and what size bar is usually run on them? Thought i may as well start using them again! Cheers!
  17. Its round the Hampshire area if thats ay help as well guys? Cheers for the help already will bear you all in mind!
  18. Just wandering if there are many subcontract climbers in the south east area? I'm mainly a landscaping firm but i do tree work as well but every now and then i get asked to do jobs that are a bit to big for me to climb myself. so was wandering who is about if i ever needed someone? Cheers.
  19. I need to stock up on some more two stroke oil and chain oil for the saws. and was just wandering what quantity you guys ususally buy it in? and where from my local stockists only do it in 5litre bottles (stihl) and its expensive to! was just thinking is there anywhere on the interenet i could use to get it a bit cheeper? Cheers, James.
  20. I'm just wandering about trees health after a reduction in this sort of weather. I've done a small silver birch reduction this week and wandered whether it will expereince any leaf drop because of the lack of water and now the lack of extra leaf area to convert the water and Co2 into energy?? Just a thought, it may be stupid but hey worth asking! Cheers
  21. Urm at least 7 until 5 most days then once a week its at least 6 until 5. Atm its only half days on Saturdays but that will be 7 until 5 soon when the work picks up for the hedge cutting we do (starts August ends in October ish). And some sunday morning jobs. Plus the time quoting and answer messages emails, invoices etc etc. So maybe atm 60hour work work a week at the very least plus the office work and quoting. But soon it will be over 60 more like 65 - 70hrs a week But hey i'm only 22 got to work now right????
  22. Just groundwork really when i do jobs like hedge cutting etc or the odd garden clearence job we get.
  23. What non chainsaw protective work boots do you guys have? i need a new pair and wandered what you guys recommended?
  24. Cheers guys got it started now! runs well too!
  25. Someone i know has a 261 that won't start but they've meast about with the tickover settings alot so i am going to put them back to factory does anyone know how many turns out the screw should be after its been tightened right up? And the same with the h and l carb settings? That would be great, cheers james.
