    I'd have ropes running close together myself, but looked like the tip of the branch nearly caught your climbing line. I could be wrong, hard to see it clearly in a video. Job got done, you saved a bit of work, and are still here to post a video about it. I'm not putting your work down, my rigging isn't exactly top notch as there isn't much call for it where I'm living. There's plenty of open space to drop, and often cut and chuck works just as fast for the odd bit that could be roped. Probably rigged 3 trees in the last year. Interested to see that redirect in more detail as well.

    Would have loved to have seen it shot by your groundy. Also not sure if I like rigging under your climbing line 2.47, probably looks closer in the video. Small trees so you were probably not overly concerned, just wouldn't fancy it myself.

    Aaah.... was expecting something more dramatic. Wouldn't fancy having to use that thing for a long time.. or come to think of it, at all.

    That said, it looks like a poor design. Having to move your arms across the blade while feeding the splitter is asking for trouble in my opinion.

    Looks like he caught his hand between the log and the table, but don't see how he nearly lost a few fingers. Unless I'm missing something.

    Entrance to a new halting site... Or sometimes, that we're just practicing on this tree. Point to a small tree somewhere nearby, "That's the tree we're going to work on." Occasionally tell them that there's an old lady up the road with no heating in need of firewood.

    Depends on the tree. If its a big one and I can get a good high clear shot from the ground then I'll install the cambium saver. Otherwise, I just scrabble up. Unusual question though.

    Scary how fast you can burn through money buying gadgets and nic-nacs. Would sell you mine but gave it away in a fit of anger. Luckily enough, the guy I gave it to is getting on great with it.

    Find it easier to get an accurate direction if you do the top first.

    Being able to tend slack with one hand while holding on to the tree with the other is the biggest advantage. TBH I have the rapide and don't really notice any difference. In fact my HC had gunk in the pully and wasn't actually rolling for a couple of days before I noticed it. Sorted it with some soapy water. Get one, you won't regret it.

    Everytime I buy a new rope, first thing I do is wrap some tape around the stitching to protect it. You do need to occassionally re-do it just to have a look, damage assessment but has kept my stitching in good nick.

    I'm in the hate it party... though I know plenty who swear by them. It just seems to catch on everything when I bend my knee. Branches seem to just find their way between the handle and my leg. Drives me nuts. Don't have that problem with it hanging from my harness. The only trees this doesn't seem to happen on are big open crowns, and then I'd normally be using a 20 anyway. If it will make me able to climb like the guy in the video, I might buy one and strap it to my leg without a silky though. Best of both worlds. Will go well with my Spider-jack. Might paint some "go-faster" stripes on me helmet as well. The missus will be delighted.

    There's no other T/H I'd use unless I had absolutely no choice. Husky never got close, and the others, Makita, Echo, Tanaka aren't even worth mentioning. What else is there. As far as top handles are concerned it is the be all and end all. Awaiting the new Husky impatiently.

    Wonder how many photos or threads go un-posted here because of the fear of getting flack? Well done, looks as good as any I've seen on here. Must get a camera or better phone sorted and get a few up myself. Boss will go mad if he thinks you're wasting time, but gonna chance it anyway.

    Wrong project mate.. this isn't the 6 million trees for the Queen's Jubilee. It's an Irish project to plant 1 million trees in one day. They aren't going to be planted in towns. They are being planted in dedicated sites, which we hope one day will become native woodland.

    The sites are going to be managed by the Irish National Forestry Foundation and Green Belt ltd. The trees will be "site appropriate", and if some of them fail the benefit of having woodland preserved will still be seen. The fact that it's a million trees is designed to have a "feel good" status, as is the number of volunteers required to get these trees in the ground in a day. They will tell their friends who'll tell their friends etc. The more people get in involved, the more people will learn on the way, and educating people to the benefits of trees is as important as actually having preserved woodland.

    There are several sites all over Ireland. North and South. It's been in the pipe for the last year, and the campaign will be starting this week. The website will be going live in the next couple of days or so and more will be revealed then. Will keep you posted. Volunteers will be required, and last I spoke to my friend there was a text donation number to be set up.

    Get to the job, get set up, take a break, maybe 30 mins, then go till it's done on one day or two dayjobs. On jobs that are on going (utilities etc), crack on in the morning (that's when most of the work gets done) take a breather about 12 or 1, then carry on till about 4. Spend about 30mins at the end of the day getting a plan together for the next day so you can get straight into it in the morning.

    Can tell you for sure the Ranger is complete rubbish at towing. At least the 05 one is anyway. Have heard of a few L200's giving trouble from the diffs seizing (but no experience of it myself), one of our neighbours has one though, and never given them any trouble. They don't actually use it as a jeep though. We have 3 different Hiluxes in work and all 3 are great towing, and more than acceptable off road. Pretty thirsty though, but what jeep isn't?

    It is shameful both sides of the border. So some of the sites are actually located up there. When I say "Irish effort" I mean the island of Ireland.
