  1. cheers for the quick reply! surprised you don't have to pay subs!
  2. As the title says, found a dead branch on a silver birch today covered in little orange spots. Didn't manage to get a picture of it as it went through the chipper before i could get the camera out. Anyone know what this is called? Tree seemed pretty healthy other than that.
  3. seriously... just boil it for a few minutes. hey presto knot undoes itself nearly like magic. first big job i was ever on tied a double figure 8 on the bosses brand new pulling rope to pull a tree over. big mistake. was given the rope to take home told not to come back in till i got the knot out. dad was a sailor told me to boil it, which i did. back in the next morning with the rope in perfect condition.
  4. put the knot in a pot of boiling water for about 5-10 mins. should be easy to undo after that.
  5. Ditto that... bit of playing up for the camera I reckon.
  6. 13 stone. 6 wraps 3 braids. locks up when i want and lets go when i want. recently tried the distel as used to climb on a schwab and liked the look of it. changed back though because the vt is much faster.
  7. hi there... first post. really interesting forum. been climbing since 03 never thought to look for a forum before. should be fun trawling around it re-educating myself for a few days. haven't really kept up with things since the RFS in 02. as for the MEWP, probably the worst thing you can do for your back. a lot of reaching down over the top rail, even if you spend the extra time on positioning you are going have to reach a bit at some stage. have had back problems myself from climbing before, used to climb in a Willans T22. Switched over to an Edilrid TreeMagic and problem hasn't come back since. tried the sequoia and found it a little flimsy... work-mate bought one last year, and by the look of it he won't have it this time next year. Butterfly feels pretty similar to the treemagic also. Found the TreeMotion to be a complete disaster. Pretty cumbersome and expensive. Just an opinion know some climbers who love em. Found the seating position too low.
