That is impressive Mick. I'm 97% sold on the uniforest winches they seem to be very well made.

Currently looking at getting a forestry winch to fit to the alpine. I have a project coming up that I would like to pull Ash sticks up a steep slope to a flat field on top. I'm looking at uniforest maybe 40E. Anyone with any experience or advice? Can forestry winches be used for assisted felling also?

Hi Andrew, yes the hedge flail was from Alan too. I was a bit concerned about hedge flailing without a cab but after 2 days of hitting back very overgrown hedges there was almost nothing thrown back. I may still get a Perspex or mesh screen fitted but so far so good.

I think most if not all the Alpines that I have come across are Italian apart from AGT. There's Pasquali, Ferrari and BCS which are all made by BCS. Antonio Carrero and also Goldoni. Being a specialist and relatively expensive bit of kit it is quite a small niche in the compact tractor market. I feel that 50hp is a useful size for an Alpine. Plenty of power but still easily transportable. As far as any brand better than the other, in my limited experience I think they all have pros and cons. Dealer service and backup is key

I've had the side arm hedge flail out on the alpine recently trimming bridleway hedges where it's too narrow for a standard machine to access.

I haven't had any experience of the 160 but the 125 it replaced was a great chipper. I have a 130 mk1 which I've had over 3 years and it is a great bit of kit. It has never let me down. I reckon you wouldn't go far wrong with either Timberwolf or gm. Get a demo of each and see which you prefer

I bought a rock machinery stump grinder about 4 months ago. For the money it is a brilliant bit of kit and has paid for itself already. I was that impressed with the machine and also the service and advice from rock that I ended up buying the venom 22 tonne splitter a couple of months ago. I have been working it hard and I am very impressed. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone who is thinking of getting one.

I am trialling Aspen at the moment. I have found a good local supplier which was my first issue. although I still cringe at the price I suspect the benefits outweigh will make it worth spending the extra. Couple of initial thoughts, what does everyone do with their empty cans? Before I know it I'm going to be swamped? Also, bit disappointed with the smell. Id of thought at that price using a saw with it in would smell of summit nice like fish and chips or freshly mown grass but it's a weird smell. Think I prefer the smell of 2 stroke mmmmm delicious carcinogens. Seriously though I think it's the way ahead

Pasquali, Bsg and Ferrari are all the same just different colours! It came down to price and service.

Yes, it was from Alan Munn who has been superb. The loader will lift enough to make it useful but not in the league of an Avant/Multione. I guess about 300-400kg. I use the flail as a rear weight when using the loader

It is powerful enough for everything I need it for and still transportable with flail and loader attached. I had a Goldoni Quad 20 before which was a great little tractor I just needed more power!

The 360 doesn't like being sat on the ground with the engine running as it tends to get hot and melt some of the plastic as you've described. Hanging off a harness in the canopy its fine. I've had mine 3 years and I'm very pleased with it. So much more reliable than my old 200t

I've been running them now for 6 months on 260, 460 and 550xp. No snapped chains, minor amount of stretch and they cut nicely. They seem to hold their sharpness well too when cutting dirty wood. Not bad for the price.

As much as I like the look of a processor, the more I look into it the more I feel it's not right for me. I don't want to buy timber in, I just want to log up what I get for free from the arb work I do. I am now thinking a decent pto saw bench working alongside a self powered hydraulic log splitter and then perhaps a conveyor into bags/landy. Anyone else run a setup like this? Any recommendations for saw benches and log splitters? I like the look of the rock machinery venom 22 tonne splitter but I'm a bit cautious of Chinese engineering. I have no idea about saw benches. Time to trawl the forum!

Just after some advice, for the past 8 years I have cut and split a small amount of logs each year for myself and some to sell. Last year I had use of a hycrack pto splitter but otherwise all done with saw and axe. I now have a growing pile of wood. It's all arb arisings so varying sizes and shapes. I am considering how to process it more efficiently. I like the look of the riko wp36 road tow and I think I could get some funding towards a processor but would I be more efficient just getting a saw bench and hydraulic splitter? Any experience gratefully received!

I disagree. I have a hydrocut screw splitter. It is great on most wood but recently I found it to be crap on Ash which even when split hung together as it was quite stringy. Otherwise it is a great splitter, simple, strong and quick

Hey Mr Org, My Quad 20 has an engine pull stop button on the dash that I run the stop cord to. Works fine. Hope you get on well with your BCS. I'm in the process of part exchanging my Quad 20 for a Pasquali Eos with loader. I believe BCS, Pasquali and Ferrari are all the same.

It's a stein/kask and I thought it would be good to use the GoPro mount otherwise I'll have brackets stuck all over my head but I guess a cycle light could be modified to fit
