  1. hay guys your starting to scare me, i just got an o6 warrior, full service history, the only thing i dont like are the leather seats they are too hard a bit like a merc. nice drive though. turning circle is better than a landy.
  2. it all depends on what you pay for the lpg. if you pay the same tax thats fine but bulk fuel is usually cheaper than road fuel so if your caught by the inland rev your in trouble. i ave got a v8 converted to lpg that has failed its mot. it has got a 100ltr tank in the back which holds 80 ltrs of gas. when running it was bril, on av it did 24mpg urban and 30mpg on a run
  3. get your injector pump serviced, it might have water in it.
  4. it was bad enough. the Sister in A&E was a friend of mine and she had people jumping through hoops looking after me. her exact words were "Bob is a very good friend of mine so you had "better" look after him". i am off to London to stay at my daughters for a bit of R&R

    Stroke

Hi all, last Monday i had a stroke. this was brought on by stress and a crap diet plus a few other bits and pieces. what i want to say is it is a mad world out there and because most of you are working under pressure we all seem to forget about our selves. take time out to enjoy life even if its for a few mins aday. we only get one shot at life but death is perminent. think on it and remember that "Death is natures way of telling us to Slow Down"
  6. :thumbup:that man is a star:thumbup:
  7. i like your idea, however i already have 3 ladders (different lengths) with holes in the rungs dedicated to milling. if there is a big gap in the middle of the ladder i pack some wood under it and screw it to the tree and then screw the ladder to the pack.after all the crown board is scrap wood so it doesnt matter about screw holes. No one as yet has come up with a different way to attach the mini mill rails without screwing them into the good wood. now that would be a better idea.
  8. the thing about the 880 is it is as you know 404. but you can get a 3/8 drive sprocket for it. the two best bars that Rob D sells are the Woodland Pro (Canon) and the GB. i have got the 50" WP and a 60" GB. the WP seems to keep cooler at the tip. i was advised once to get the biggest drive head you can then add the bars etc as you need them. works for me.
  9. that has seriourly made my day. brill:thumbup:
  10. Hi, i started with a 660 and a 36" mill, the problem with the 660 is it will only go up to a 36" bar. did a swop with an ms880 and have not looked back. i was told once that you buy the bigges head you can and then add the bars/chains. the ms880 can be changed from 404 to 3/8th by getting a 3/8ths drive sprocket. my set up now is ,1x ms880, 3x076av. 1x mill with 36", 48" and 56" rails, various bars upto and including the 50" woodland pro(brill bar) and the big 60" gb.i have also got the mini mill. for chains go for the granburg. these if set up properly cut fast. also get a 12v grinder, when you have 120 odd teeth to sharpen it makes life sooo much easier. what ever bar you use you will loose 4" from the end (because of the sprocket) + about 1 to 1.1/2" inch form the head end. give me a ring on 07881885426 for un bias info. the other day i milled some poplar 36" so had to use the 50" bar and the 48" rails there was a lot of rail and bar sticking out the other end but it didnt make any dif to the milling.
  11. had the same problem just after new year, chain oil going thick, was advised to stick a bit of derv in it
  12. you could try alex arthur of chew valley charcoal. you can get hold of him via the foaproducts.com. website. i know he used to sell in london.
  13. just phoned my local Aspen dealer to see if they had the new Fill Partner which they didnt, i also asked how much the Aspen was now. £13.60+vat an increase of £1.40+ vat on a 5 litre can. if AAOIL are so keen for us to use the stuff why wack a big price rise on it. the price of ordinary petrol has come down in recent weeks, now about £1.14 or £1.15 per litre why has Aspen gone up by so much. i cannot afford to buy in bulk and have nowhere to store it. answers please.:thumbdown:
  14. few years ago i was in a wood cutting up a wind blown ash, didnt realise i was standing on a nest till they started stinging. dropped the saw and legged it. the wasps followed me for a bit then they went back to the still running saw and went mental around it. counted the stings on my arms 10. i keep piriton in the first aid kit (non drowsey for just such an occasion but more for horse fly bites, i get a really bad reaction to them)
  15. if as he says he is ex forces just ask him his number. if he says he cannot remember it then he wasnt in the forces. all army number have 8 numbers, dont know about the navy or air force. also he should be able to produce his red book.
  16. looks like fun. however this shows just how irrisponsible some people can be. and this from a country that sells chain saw shorts:thumbdown:
  17. no, didnt really have time, but i will run the drive head up in the next few days and give it go. however i am now commited to using Aspen but only in the 880 not my 076s. just a shame it is so expensive.
  18. Using Aspen. on friday i had some milling to do in Solihull for a regular client. this time it was cutting 20mm slices in each end of 24 gluelam beams. as the weather was pants they set it all up on tressels inside a big open ended barn. i had a bit of normal 2 stroke to get rid of then changed to Aspen. what a difference it made, with the 2 stroke my eyes were burning with the fumes but when i changed to aspen everything changed for the better. there was a slight loss of power but as i was using an 880 with a 36" bar it wasnt really that bad. i have got to do some more milling next week in a woodland that is FSC so its Aspen and Bio oil. ok its more exspensive than normal 2 stroke mix but i will be using it from now on. no more feeling bunged up and headaches for me:thumbup:
  19. where did he hide the can of pledge?
  20. Fortune can take from us nothing but what she gave. Trying is the first step towards failure. How long do i have to be horozontal before i earn the right to be perpendicular. Dont let your past dictate who you are but let it be part of what you will become.
  21. i think you will find that it is Elder that you ask permission from her to cut. the Elder in old folk law is the hag, that is why you never ever burn elder on an open fire in a house, better still dont burn it, saves a lot of trouble, all you have to do is tell the hag why you are cutting it down(respectfully) and then do it quickly and cleanly. even if you dont believe in superstition why tempt it.
  22. i bought some Aspen the other week and i will be trying it out on Friday. Rob, i got some more milling to do in Solihull, 24 double enders to do this time and because the weather is ment to be pants i will be doing it under cover. hense the Aspen.
  23. yes mate however it was someone further away than me and the bloke who wanted me to do the milling hasnt been back in touch. you win some and loose some.
  24. i think i mentioned this before, i find the best way to stop the bar dropping is to stop about 12" from the end and then push the far end of the bar round till it is about half way out of the top, then pull it back and push the head end round to meet the cut, square the bar and put two wedges behind the bar. if you are using a long bar and big drive head this is the time to turn it off then move round to the front of the mill and then draw the mill out. this way you will always keep two rails on the wood and stop drop off. try it and see that you dont need loads of unnessessary gear.
