  1. slabbing some Elm last week . . . . . . . . . . . (no not really) it was about August. nine nails, chain chopped right through them and hardly a mark on the cutters. 880's rule:party:
  2. boxers for me, bed under the window, window open all year round. got one of these tempur mattresses they are brill, 13.5 tog duvet. snug as a bug in a rug.
  3. what weight anvil do you want? my mate Stan is a black smith and he got me a brill 1cwt (112lbs) a couple of years ago. its about 300 years old but fantastic to use. pm me and i will ask Stan if he can get one. Oh yes, the face in the wood was in his tree.
  4. I think that this is the poem: Beechwood fires are bright and clear if the logs are kept a year. Chestnuts only good they say if for long tis laid away. Make a fire of Elder tree Death within your house will be. Birch and Fir logs burn too fast blaze up bright and do not last. It is by the Irish said, Hawthorn makes the sweetest bread. Elm wood burns like churchyard mould. E'en the flames are cold. Poplar gives a bitter smoke, fills your eyes and makes you choke. Apple wood will scent your room Pear wood smells like flowers in bloom. Oaken logs if dry and old, keep away the winter cold. But Ash wood wet or Ash wood dry a King shall warm his slippers by.
  5. nor would you be if you had just had a chainsaw take half your face off.lol:thumbup:
  6. this might be better:thumbup1:
  7. i will try, and will try to get it the right way up
  8. i felled and milled a big Hornbeam (3ft x 80ft) for a mate of mine early this year and this was in one of the boards. the face is life size in the board.
  9. i have i hope sussed it out:thumbup:
  10. yes but then nothing happens
  11. sorry i thought the photo was attached. will try again
  12. wasnt me. some woman in the village this morning hit her brakes too hard, bounced off the sides of the lane a few times pulled the hand brake on and gravity did the rest. she was going the other way. i heard about it as i was going out and put the snow chains on. great bit of kit:thumbup:
  13. Bloke watching TV when his wife came in and said " i just fell down the stairs, gidnt you hear me..? Husband says " Sorry love i thought it was the start of Eastenders"
  14. Dear Santa, if it is in your power could England win the Ashes and the Grand Slam, Calcutta Cup and the Triple Crown.
  15. Just got in and read this thread, all i can say is Avon "Skin So Soft". 2 types, one is called soft and fresh, this is used by special forces guys and is brill, it even keeps ticks and bugs off you, spray it on but dont rub it in. trust me it really works. the other is winter soft. both are great. if you dont want to get the Avon range then get some Emu Oil, you can get this from Boots, just a small blob of it goes a long way. it is also good for bruises.
  16. i have got a 50" woodland pro (cannon) and a 60" gb. i use them for milling however i find that the wp is nicer to use and it keeps cooler at the sprocket end. for long bars that is important. as posted before get in touch with Rob D and he will answer any questions you have. he posted a vid of himself felling a big tree using a 72" gb. if most of your old bars are 3/8 then you can still run them on an 880 but you have to get a 3/8 drive sprocket otherwise your stuck with 404.
  17. so where would "Just outside the Viscinity Zone" be?
  18. i have got 3 x 076`s. these have got to be well over 12 years old. never let me down. i sometimes run them with 36 or 50 inch bars or on the double ended sperber 4ft mill . bril saws bags of grunt, just a wee bit greedy on the fuel. but then so is the 880......
  19. just type Devon winch into google. they are based either in or near Taunton.
  20. have a look at Devon Winch. they do a thing called a Winch in a box.
  21. i prep locks with wd40 then spray with white lithiom grease. you can get it from b&q or screw fix. i spray it on all my bars when i have cleaned them. great stuff, does what it says on the can.
