  1. It's got the 3lt engine which gives it 144DIN hp.
  2. After months of deliberating and having the rug pulled from under me on a new Landrover deal I've ordered a Toyota Dyna MWB with three way tipper. The original Landrover I did the deal on was sold by another sales man and the company sourced another but wouldn't put the warranty on it because of its conversion so after looking around its a brand new Dyna which has saved me 3k against the Landrover deal. Picking it up at the end of the month.
  3. Finally a break in the weather has allowed me yo fell the remaining trunk at " Cedar House" used bales of hay to protect the ground, then used it for bedding for my sisters alpacas.
  4. Not meaning to derail this thread any further but all this chatter about fish reminds me of the " has anyone got any Codwood"
  5. Started a woodland clearance job at Radyr Weir, Cardiff in preparation for the installation of two "Archimedes screws" into the river. It's going to be a slow job, trees to inspect for bats prior to felling, dormice and otters, then it's nesting season!
  6. I use the light weight oragan ones. Great for dragging logs off the pile and for lifting smaller logs. Saves your back. I've got a smaller Stihl one which has a flat head on the back which is more useful on the processor.
  7. I looked at both before settling on a Brian James triaxle. It will take 2.7t! It's a very strong trailer with Ali sides and understory ramps, electric tipper and really nice to tow. The only downside is you can't turn the jockey wheel down or up with the hand brake applied due to the handle hitting the hand brake. It's expensive but well worth it.
  8. Cheers Treebloke, I've found another dealer just waiting to see what he can do. They might be the ones you are on about. All seem to be Swindon, melksham and bath area. Appently five were bought by one company and sold on.
  9. Right then Gents, had an email from the dealer first thing this morning to say someone had just placed a deposit on the machine I wanted! Hope it's not any of you! Found another but it's a grand more! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. This is my existing machine which I'm keeping until summer then hopefully replacing it with new utility station wagon. One reason for getting a tipper is I'm sick of dragging a trailer around the lanes then having to reverse up little lanes to houses etc. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. Yep certainly wood (would). Pm costs as I'm about to perchase this years timber. Based near Chepstow. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. After deliberating for several months I'm about to buy a new landrover tipper. I've driven landrover both personal and for work for the last 20yrs. However to buy a brand new one is a big step. I've managed to get a 13plate with 10miles on the clock with a Brit Tipp tipper down from 22k to 19k plus vat put need to do conclude the deal tomorrow. I'll be using it for woodland work, occasional tree surgery but mainly delivering logs. Just need your valued opinions on the Brit Tipp tipper. Before I part with the hard earned money any thoughts? 13. Finally finished the cedar I started last week, managed to get some extra climbers today. Will go back and fell the trunk in the week, I've got to put a load of bales down to protect the lawn!
  14. Well I'm hedging my bets, I'm so fed up with the lack of snow I'm heading up to Scotland for three weeks from early feb, if I get no snow this year I might just move to Canada! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Was asked to remove a number of hangers from this Blue Altas, made it safe but unfortunately it's structurally unsound and is showing signs of major failure. It's being felled on Saturday, which is a great shame as I was looking forward to a day off!
  16. Showerproof is as good as they get! When doing woodland work I wear Sip, there're as hard wearing as the stretch air gator but half the price. The one issue I had with the stihls is that they burn very easily!
  17. Who is this man you call "Chris Gill" if he is as good looking as me then perhaps he is from the same gene pool.
  18. Got both, husky for call outs and Stihl for climbing, find the husky gear more comfortable. The only problem with both is the fact they get dirty very quickly!
  19. Thanks or he reply, if WAG don't take our comments and concerns on fuel wood supply then there will be no wood to dry! I'll email you in the new year.
  20. Lets be honest, we all know that bio mass is not green when it comes to burning precious wood and crops to produce energy, especially when large tracts of forestry are being felled especially for bio mass. If there are those with surplus amounts of waste then I think it's a good idea, in the same way as sawmills burn there waste for heating etc. the problem is if we are not embracing this idea then there will come a time when the east will supply all our firewood needs felling there virgin forests to get there hands on cheap sterling! I too would rather see tax payers money spent on other things, like short rotational cropping etc but if its there then we use it. Infact I believe there will be major timber shortages in ten or so years. I never take anyone's comment as a dig as we are all grown men and woman all with a point of view. Valid reasons will always sway opinions and I'm a listener.
  21. Having received the nice glossy data sheet in the post and haveing read everyone's opinion, I would be interested if I had access to 300t of timber to make it work. I've got the space and capacity but not the timber. The government in my case Welsh assembly need to support this initiative but ensuring supplies to local wood merchants rather than sending timber down the M4 to be blended with coal and burnt to produce "green energy" Forestry commission Wales have stopped supplying me and I'm now tendering against the biomass industry, which I can't compete. Perhaps Log pro could work with the Assembly to get a guarantee from WAG to supply Log pro users with wood. I certainly couldn't invest unless I had a sustainable, local source of timber, it's ironic that I have timber from as far away as Surrey yet I'm on the edge of the Wye Valley, Forest of Dean and looking out of my window surrounded with over 800 acres of plantation! I'm only doing 125t this year and will scale back next year, I'm only doing "posh wood" from now on! Would it work for a co-op of small firewood merchants? I would like the opportunity to come up and see one in action. I also remove over 150t of timber from Cardiff bay, process it on site and send it off to flat holm island, there might be an opportunity to get the local authority on board, burning their waist wood to creat dry wood for the islands boilers, now I'm sure there's mileage in that!
  22. Great idea! I've just priced up and won this little job, if anybody wants the wood in its "living form" I'll take a fiver!
  23. Coming up to 43! I've had 25 years in the game, still lug a saw and fell all day, a bit more choosy on what I climb and certainly slower due to back and wrist problems, speeds not everything and plan to hang up my gear on my 60th!
  24. Best thing I've watched all over Christmas!
  25. Mrs Bear thought I was getting a bit tubby so she bought me a new pair of log splitters! ( I might have to sell the farmi!).
