  1. Yeah, timber had signs of rot for about the top 15ft of stem wood.
  2. Reduced a declining beech today. Seems to have been caused by rooks. Also had a platform in for this larch over some solar panels top was quite rotten so I didn't fancy rigging it down too heavy.
  3. With low impact spikes of course mark.
  4. It's all down to clientele, types of to be exact. You can do an amazing reduction and the client feels duped out of any gain. Says they want more off or they will not pay. Opinion one - do what the client says Option two - try taking them to court which will probably not go in your favour and you still have to go back. Just a different view.
  5. A quick removal of two topped Douglas firs. Then onto a conifer cut. Oh an I've learned alway take a canoe to assess a tree in the river and a drive through the sand dunes to price a job.
  6. And not a single one safe enough to stand on.
  7. We had to remove 2 conifers today and the neighbours asked for a price to remove the birch. We did well in 3 bits. The more I use a Hobbs the more I personal prefer it over a grcs. We had a rigging line in each tree and used whichever angle made the most sense for the branch being removed. Picked them both apart in no time and used the front tree to remove 2/3rds of the back tree quickly with rigging.
  8. Seeing the apprentices get better and more competent. Other than that this whole last month can get lost and vanish!!
  9. I've not used a winch since buying the skid steer and that portable winch has some amazing force when used with a fiddle block. I do think a winch makes them look awesome though.
  10. Norfolks very flat. Drive on a bus and your heads in them. 😁
  11. The ranger is now surplus to use. Great truck but to be honest the Landy is better. Even without an 8000lbs winch.
  12. I only ever bomb stuff out at midday Wednesday. Mainly to celebrate its halfway through the week. 😆
  13. Our Landy doing bits and bobs. Always been sceptical of owning one but since buying an using it is an impressive truck.
  14. Last one from on the river. Taken by Steve.
  15. Finally finished this site. Put a hole in the log as it had dug in from winching it out.
  16. Less than a day. Apparently never came back. So all I can go is on the clients word.
  17. Awesome pictures I bet that was a beautiful sound flying past.
  18. Looks good jack. Today I accidentally went for a swim at 08:30. I was moving along the stem attaching winch ropes from a canoe and lent just a bit too far. But after 4 hours of messing around we managed to get the fallen ash out.
  19. First job was one where the contractor had said they couldn't do it. We turned up and pulled the back section off as they'd already done the back cut and it had sat back. I did laugh and say to the client; well, I told you we wouldn't be the cheapest. Then back to more felling for pilings to go in.
  20. I'd throughly recommend renewing your vows. Especially if you get to play military. One of the vows.
  21. Yeah that comes worth its weight in gold.
  22. A bit of riverside felling today to allow piling works to go ahead.
  23. The numbers of people who attended was between 12,000-15,000 according to the papers.
  24. The last few from other people on Facebook.
  25. By far the best weekend I've had in a while.
