  1. Finally got to use a wee chipper. I will say a) it's just fun throwing a little twig in and watch it vanish fast! B) light as we had a surface clay that stopped all my machines getting to the site. C) actually really good we did 4t in 3 hours today.
  2. Very tasty paul. Just out of curiosity have you tested it with some thrashing of the rope? Just to see if there is a chance of the x ring popping out. Your not going anywhere if it does because your threaded through the alpine butterfly. But the ring could come down the line.
  3. Yeah he lost me a bit. Cheers. I was talking about if you go over the 3500kgs mam. But yeah forgot that trailers would need down plating.
  4. You've lost me a bit. Anything combined over 3500kgs will need an o licence.
  5. Totally shot David, i know another tree care company gave a reduction price which was nearly double the fell cost (according to the man we saw on site today). I'd assume that's why we were only asked to provide a cost for felling. If of been happy to of left the timber but they've had some serious arson occur in the past. Fencing would of sufficed to be fair. But then again I didn't win the survey costing.
  6. We removed the main timber but all the bark and soft limbs were placed to the side. There's a small bramble area behind the trees which I hope that some will be broken down by bugs and beasties. It just seems like all these budget cuts are eliminating retention round my way currently. As it's cheaper to fell and lift out.
  7. Today we had to go fell this oak which had slowly been falling over. Cost dictated removal over retention sadly.
  8. You get more exemptions if your wearing a jcb boiler suit I was told once.
  9. Yeah I got the road tow one. Had an engine issue and they sent a new one out ASAP.
  10. Quite simple. Pre 97 you can tow an over 750kg trailer as long as it's mam doesn't exceed the 3500kgs Post 97 you'll have to do a trailer test to tow over 750kgs. Anything over 3500kgs man requires an operators licence. Some exemptions do apply but you'll have to look. Eg - restricted operators licence or its agricultural registered. Hope that helps a bit.
  11. A few from today. Yew fell, then a conifer hedge which took all of 30mins and then my newest employee was let loose thinking this Norway maple.
  12. I've got 2 opticfire cree t6 LEDs £24 each off eBay and absolutely brilliant.
  13. I've got 2 Cree opticfire and they are fully waterproof.
  14. Too late!! 😓😓 hahaha thankfully the skid steer picks up the slack. I have got a sycamore stem to pick up, didn't fancy chugging a stem over a grade 2 listed wall.
  15. I'm aiming for having it ready towards the end of January to mid February. Just thankful I bought it outright and have other trucks. That way I can do it right and have the time to do it without the pressure.
  16. Moved the unimog to gets its new fuel tanks and chip box fitted, along with other bits and bobs. Going to replace the anti roll bar mounts as we're going to strip is down and check through all the systems. In fairness it was quite enjoyable razzing along the main roads in it tonight.
  17. Yep r-bell before us.
  18. In your case I would certainly have something as an impact buffer. I'd probably have the Landy facing the traffic with its full ADR light system running all day. Then the workforce behind that. I did have my old hilux wrote off by an old boy who pressed the wrong pedal. Country road, slowed, then floored it. Truck was facing with the traffic, he shot round us in a panic and slammed straight into the trucks passenger side and engine. So if we think about it the other way round he could of a) just slammed into the front of the truck. B) hit the hopper on the chipper which probably wouldn't of stopped him and into the workforce or. C) stopped and not pressed the accelerator.
  19. The signs were all set up in accordance with the roadworks act. Men at works and road narrows were behind me. As I'd just walked back after the road narrows fell over. Next time I'll get a picture from much further up the road. My last picture was off my phone whilst bringing in the men at works because we were heading home. I even had an extended lead taper because I didn't want traffic stopping close by. But hey ho, by the way I even used my end of works signs too. Xxxxx
  20. A few more pollards done today. Roughly 18m3 took off site, just mind numbing.
  21. Perfectly legal how we've set this site up. Sadly a text book might only show you it setup on one side of the road.
  22. Cleared and replanted the damage from the crash this morning.
  23. Today we had to reduce the overhang back from these commercial units. The two apprentices did all the deadwood and I did all the rigging over the buildings.
  24. On a call, wheel caught the extremely soft verge, full of water, already too late by then. Got to clean up and stick some branches in the ground to see if they take.
