  1. Cheers, The place is open 7 days a week and I needed the entire car park to work. We're getting charged for half a day instead of a full because of it. But still I wasn't impressed, normally we do our own TM but this needed to be monitored during works. Just an example of other people not worrying about other peoples tasks/time constraints. On the plus side I had southern fried chicken and chips! Not had them for years!
  2. I use base anchors a lot or remedial works. But always isolate it at a top anchor so if something stupid happens it's backed up and I should be okay. Never really been one to leave a single tie in on srt. Removals, rigging or anything landing near the base I always top anchor. It's about being safe and not complacent IMO.
  3. Horrendous day. Managed to acquire 6 1/2 hours of delays during the day. Had a one day window to get this done. To be honest I think in hindsight a crane would of been the best option but hey ho. TM turned up nearly 2hrs late then took an eternity to pull there thumb out.
  4. Nothing hard today. Had to go sort out an oak which was well... Had the interior thinned excessively and the outer crown untouched. Quick climb to thin out and it was good whilst Ollie cleared up the large snapped limb. Then we went and helped mick and Jim on willow pollards, today we had TM stop go because we didn't have room to place the Landy and trailer.
  5. I heard he's having so much fun he missed his flight back! 😂😂
  6. Back handled 150. The only thing I'll use on these as most bits are 2-4" diameter. I think today I cut roughly 1.5km
  7. Creating a driveway canopy. not the best place to park for someone.
  8. Moving some newly established trees today. They were suffering from poor design planning. Heavy compaction all around so we lifted them and moved them into the garden area.
  9. Sadly I've done it more than once and always say never again, forget, then do it again and remember previous thoughts.
  10. The stuff I move occasionally is classed as hire and reward.
  11. That's a shame, ones my way like to pay for good work. But it's always long hours to get them done quick.
  12. I've had a member off here need to leave for a family emergency. As soon as he said I told him to get in the truck and just go. We cracked on and yes it took us a bit longer but in the grand scheme of things, it's only work. Paid him in full for the day too as I see it as swings and roundabouts. He's made me money on multiple sites. This is out of his hands so I'll pay him in full because he intended to finish the job before the news. In fact this week I had to rush off to the hospital for a family emergency. 2 days I didn't come in and the guys just switched tasks, informed the clients who needed to be switch around and continued as normal. Personally I feel you've got to be brain dead to not allow someone to rush off for an emergency. If you use it as an excuse to slope off for whatever reason then that's just wrong.
  13. Have thought about it but I'm not sure how long I'll keep it.
  14. It is a huge estate with some huge park trees from what I remember. Surprised you haven't got Sandringham as its right by you.
  15. Just one thing. Only connected in once for the most of that first tree. tree police are heading your way!!
  16. Isnt Holkham Hall where chalkys been working? Im sure robs got to grind some big oak stumps out there.
  17. Very, very tidy result. Bet the client was over the moon.
  18. Quoted on this willow that's moved a good bit. We quoted to try and retain but it might not survive when the roads fixed.
  19. A couple of today's small tasks. 2 of my lads were on chipper assessment so me and mick had a nice relaxed day.
  20. Yeah td5 The transit is tachometer and the Landy will be soon be for when towing is required as some is hire and reward.
  21. It was the clients attempt to hold the tree up Jon. I just cut through it, made the root plate safe and drove off.
  22. 100km but that carries exemptions with it and you'll still require a drivers log book for vosa.
  23. Well said. Just remember. If you have a full time job and you've got 4 weekends ahead of work that's only in reality 6 days self employed. But 6 days a head is much better than when I setup. If you feel it's the right time either ask to reduce your hours (councils are pretty good with this) or jump in both feet and go for it.
  24. anti sawdust mode today. A call out to a tree that was lifting. Thankfully it had fallen by the time I got over.
