  1. Doing some commercial pruning for the prison service today. Clearing regrowth from the nearest tree to open back up for light. I left the furthest one slightly thicker using the ideology that it would act more as a buffer. Happy to be enlightened if I should of thinned it more. They were both just full of 1m shoots from stubs before. Enjoying the mix of snow first thing, sun, hail, more sun then hail and finally a little bit of rain.
  2. What! Normally I'm on point spotting stuff like that! Nice to have a chat too.
  3. Big sticks right there Matty. Nice work.
  4. I left a lone chair in honour of you not being here mark.
  5. You would put the side with the dent in 😂sorry I missed you and the family Andrew.
  6. Felix will be pleased to know I have spotted a wolf jacket for sale.
  7. Sadly my higher end clientele like trees to look neat and no rouge tips jutting out too far. I don't mind as it costs more to do that spec than it would to fell it. 😂
  8. A nice little 2m reduction to reshape and deadwood this morning.
  9. A job for a fellow arbtalkers family. Selective reduction on laterals and a 1-2m off the top to bring it back in line with the remainder of the crown. Myself and Jim our apprentice went up, spent a bit of time talking about how to plan routes and use redirects. Quite refreshing to be honest and a nice climb.
  10. So it's less than a week away. If your thinking of going get your form in asap.
  11. A early setup for Sunday as we had to close this lay-by off for works. A nice deadwood on the large oak and a small one behind. Felled the dead holly across the road with traffic control then cut it into 4 bits. Placed on the side, swept the road, dumped timber over the hedge and cleared up.
  12. You really shouldn't let me give him silly ideas of what I tell the public when they walk into a site preaching some utter rubbish about how that tree isn't allowed to be felled and that they haven't even read the planning application that went in 8 weeks ago.
  13. Couldn't agree more. Well except the bisexuality bit unless you mean two lasses and me then I'm all for it. The oak this week srt as it would of been a pita on drt. Leyland Hedge reduction again srt made my life a lot easier. 3 failed conifers drt in the conifer next to it made sense. And the same with a poplar re pollard. Roped into the birch behind and drt'd the living day lights out of it. The walnut was srt as I would of literally cried if id of done that drt. Just my week of climbing styles. Also I've found 11.7 slips about an inch or so if you load it with a slight jolt (bdb)
  14. Today call out, 3 failed leyands right next to a disabled riding school.
  15. First stage of reducing this walnuts crown to bring back in the left hand side mostly and some over the field behind. The clematis is monstrous and to be retained. Took about 10ft off in places and no before shot sadly as I was in a rush to get home.
  16. Cheers David. I tend to lead clients down this route personally as I see a tree as an asset. I run on the theory it's better to let the tree grow up naturally and then focus on managing areas of conflict or just the rouge ends that stick out from the main crown. Absolutely a PITA to climb to don't get me wrong.
  17. A nice relaxing morning reshaping parts of this oak.
  18. Hey everyone. So this years event is coming up quick!! If you fancy having a go or bringing the family along to the show as its pry of a country game fair. https://www.facebook.com/East-of-England-Cutters-and-Climbers-Competition-394739513952567/
