  1. The first picture makes that task look soul destroying Andrew. 6 years ago we retrenchment pruned this oak as beefsteak fungus started to cause some problems, with the addition of a hollowing stem. Today we did a 2m reduction and 1.5m reduction on the side limbs. Really happy with how much growth was pushed out over 6 years. A lot more than I expected.
  2. A few more pics I found on my phone of the bits and bobs we've been replacing.
  3. Yeah this one can do 3 cuts at a time. The old boy who was doing the demo told me they can't go any faster without hearing protection. All due to the noise of the water hitting the wheel and apparently flat out the building and ground shudders.
  4. Visited Gunton park water powered sawmill. It's only open a few times a year for just a few hours. But worth the effort. Here's some pics.
  5. I decided it was a long overdue update for that and critical cover. Also decided to go for a really good but expensive one after reading a few injury/recovery threads.
  6. I did just up my life insurance last month..... 😳
  7. Normally I would but to be honest I was actually quite worried how the beeches would turn out. Presently surprised but the effort was worth it.
  8. We went to the weird and wonderful wood show today (near stowmarket). Absolutely awesome. Felt like a little fete but had so many cool things.
  9. Mainly been sorting out the brakes recently, moving lights and little bits and bobs.
  10. And helping rob fit the unimogs lights into a new place away from danger.
  11. One more beech reduced and 3 oaks, raised and deadwooded.
  12. Normally Trainers with chain mail socks from all the times ive seen them using axes. I think they had sthil doing a demo at the APF one year? It was pretty awesome to see live and the hot saws are amazing up close.
  13. Hardest trees ive climbed in years Mark.
  14. Nice idea on wall protection. 👍
  15. An absolute nightmare to climb and I've still got 5 left to reduce. 4m height and 3m side reduction on these beech trees.
  16. started a reduction job today by the coast.
  17. An easy day today for a local town council. Well after the ecologist had finished. Re-pollarding these 2 willows as the left one had twisted and became a failure risk. (Footpath runs between the two trees) the right one was pollarded too as they had grown as a group.
  18. Not sure if I'll stay down, slightly undecided unless Adam bournes staying then I'll have to, because if I don't all I'll get is texts asking for a campfire story so he can sleep. Normally just talking about a days work is enough to put anyone to sleep within 5 minutes. 😅
  19. A couple of bits from today. A medium sized lime pollard as the rear limbs were becoming dysfunctional and there was some decay pockets near the unions. And some deadwood removals on 2 smaller oaks.
  20. Tidy as always josh. Been on some dull contract work recently so my most interesting picture is sorting out this birch that accidentally burnt from an over zealous client.
  21. Cheers Andrew, To be honest I've just been really fortunate as a business. Don't get me wrong I still do the odd small tree here and their but now it's mostly commercial. Having the skid steer allows me to be very quick compared to my competition.
  22. Holt station Steve, part of the north Norfolk steam railway. Pretty cool day working near steam and old school diesel trains. Even had a school trip today doing the evacuation, lucky for them when they sounded the air raid siren we locked and loaded the 201 and 150 just in case of enemy bombers. ☺️ Thomas the tank engine is here for the bank holiday weekend. Taking the bournes down to see it Adams boy loves Thomas a lot. We were working for the national health service as they own the trees.
  23. Cheers, Mick Had to get it done before Thomas the tank engine arrives tomorrow. Timber will be cleared up next week.
  24. Finished off these poplar pollards today.
