The main reason I've been toying with the idea is I've got to make some octagon shaped posts for a driveway entrance and well this seems like it would be the way to do it. Agreed on your points josh. wouldn't use it for boards but im thinking fancy posts that you can't get from a local saw mill. Also adjusting the legs im wondering if i could create a twisting effect too but that may/may not work. Rob you certainly know how to leave us in suspense:001_tt2:

Yeah the plan is to make them kind of like the mill height adjusters so i can level up the jig on rough ground. Really its a cheap rip off of a peterson mill:001_tongue: But will be at each end so the mill doesn't need to pass them once its on the jig. Also the plan would be to lower the whole jig down for the subsequent cuts. Maybe need measure ments on the legs too?

Ok well i had a thought of such:biggrin:. So ive got a spare ladder approx 12ft long and was thinking of putting 4 adjustable legs on it and turning it into a kind of running jig frame. Will aim to start it as soon as i workout all the parts.

Obviously we never overloaded deliberatly.... Yeah we always said she was ideal for the job as shes quite small but can carry the weight too. Have they fixed the heated windows button as it kept blowing all the fuses when we had her?

5 years that was one of the fleet. The engine was a bit tired but she never broke down on us and could lift well. Only thing was some times when we overloaded it the sides could get pushed out:thumbup1:

Just a quick comment on the thred title? IPAF is a certificate you get for training in a platform, diff types VMP26 etc. C.S.C.S is a card you need to work on any building site (a safety test)? C.P.C.S (construction plant competence scheme) is for types of plant i.e hiabs. So if the question that you've asked the answer would be:laugh1: 1) Ipaf or other type body for mewps. 2) CSCS card if you want to work on a building site. 3) CPCS card if there is one for mewps but then your ipaf is probably as good anyway.

Twisted shanks are only benificial if they are used with better top strapping (velcro, etc). I must say that i was more impressed with the twisted spikes than straight spikes. The twisted spikes postion the shank more forward towards the stem unlike staright which postion them towards your other spike. Thats about it in a nutshell. P.S most people say twisted are uncomfy with the normal L shape top straps.

The only thing i liked about thermal was that it could identify disfunctional sections of cambium. Other than that i wasn't sold on it.

I've been running my saws 395, 088, 357 flat out for 2 days on aspen now and i must say the only one that seems like it needs a wee adjustment is the 357. But i am most impressed with it so far ok its a few quid more, im not too worried as it was very refreshing today cutting down an oak in a confined space. 2 saws running most of the day and i didn't have a sore throat from the fumes although they do remind me of a chippy:sneaky2: So i had to get chips for lunch!!! Im going to run aspen for 1 month to see if i feel better and see if the saws run better.

Stick with it i think Mr Blair hit the nail on the head as such. See it in Arb terms You = an acorn your not going to be a noticeable tree over night. For a number of years you will be small and racing for the light (work) but as you grow people will know you and call you more often and you'll become a tree with lots of branches and people will know who you are even if you don't know who they are. Sorry that it sounds all Karate kid like.

Hi, Just to ask the question. Went to my local Aspen dealer today and purchased some 2T. Talking to the workshop workers about Aspen and if they had any problems because im thinking of switching all my saws over to it. They said that some older Sthil ms200's had, had problems running whilst using Aspen. I was wondering if you could shed some light on this? They did say it was mainly older saws? Mine is made in 2006 and don't really want it to stop working/ shell out for another one. Thanks, Ian

It's time to wake up - and switch to Aspen Fuel

The main reason im looking at it produces 0.13 less monoxide than unleaded and only 2 Part-per notion of sulphur (ultimate unleaded is approx 10). Which should reduce headaches and fumes in confiend spaces. For the extra cost im going to give it a 1 month run with all my saws to see if it is much better. Although for milling im a bit worried as you easily can burn through 30Ltrs no problem. -

Yep, I prefer to use people who have there own insurance as they seem to break things less. from my past experiences with freelance climbers. 'Smash, bash, crash! what fence? well thats why you've got insurance mate.' im not paying £500 excess for a couple of fence pannels..... -

EL does cover uninsured freelancers? My insurance company had a long discussion over this matter, I said i use Freelance climbers and sub contractors. I was told for using a sub contractor they would need there own PL as they would be undertaking the work, doing there own risk assessments. So i wouldn't, but freelancers work with you and under your supervision are classed as third party employed apparently. Well by your company so you do need EL but if they have there own PL you don't. So i didn't take EL and will only use insured PL contractors subby or freelance. Thats what i was told by Trust.
