  1. Elm is one of those woods where you have to catch it right to get the best out of it. When the bark starts to fall off leave it standing for at least 2 years. When the bark has completely dissapeared and it is bald you have the best firewood money can buy, i would gladly cut my right arm off for 100 tons of this wood.
  2. Can anyone tell me the going rate for green oak and ash cordwood (green). I have been offered 25 tons of mixed ash & oak unseasoned for £45 per ton if i buy 25 tons, this includes delivery. This is my first thread and i would like to take this opportunity to say "what a brilliant site"
  3. Thats a lovely bit of kit youve made , very neat , is that a 18hp vanguard engine?. If it cost less than a grand to build, you should seriously think of making them as a living.
  4. widmere, this is a brilliant idea.
  5. Hi, i used to work on the canals in london and on the mooring sites we used to use a non slip compound on the wooden structures. It was made by a company called MMP tel: 01423889441 fax:01423889866 e.mail: [email protected] internet: ITW MMP . They are based in north yorkshire. Basically it comes in 3 tins 1 resin 1hardener mix both together paint it on the required surface , last tin is fine aggregate and sprinkle on your painted surface, leave to dry , thats it.
  6. I had an sj413 , grizzlys, roll cage, rear radiator. This litttle car would go anywhere. Many times i could go where landrovers couldnt. Best offroader i ever saw was a toyota tacoma. The american imported version of the hilux.
  7. Your customers are getting good value for money with that load. Why didnt i think of including the spare wheel.
  8. Trouble is i have checked out the competition in my area and the going rate for a 1 ton pick up load is between £55-£65 and it dosnt really matter what quality wood you sell, to most customers as long as it burns is what matters. I have noticed a hell of a lot of people are turning to log burners so the future for log sellers looks good.
  9. You will need a medical first. Dont go to your doctor, ask the training centre you are going to use to recommend a place. A doctor will charge in the range of £100. I had mine done for £35. Check your provisional license , i couldnt take any lessons because dvla sent mine back as a full hgv/lgv/psv and i am not the only one. Good luck
  10. Im moving north, a load like that would sell for no more than £100. Im in bedfordshire. My hilux level loaded goes for £60 and that is the going rate around here, try and up the price and the customer goes elsewhere.
  11. I drive a hilux but i borrowed one a few weeks ago. Great turning circle, powerful, wing mirrors stick out , you find yourself driving over the white lines on country lanes, just so you dont break the glass. Very thirsty. Overall you cant go wrong with one of these. Perhaps the only one to beat it would be the sprinter.
  12. Try ebay. there is always kindling for sale.
  13. Bought myself "round timber haulage" off ebay. Hasnt arrived yet. Brought the same book years ago, but lent it to an old fella who owned a bedford QL and havnt seen it since.
  14. Be careful how you advertise when selling logs. If your advert reads "1 ton of logs" then it must weigh 1 ton or more. I know someone who was fined £2500 because his loads were less than he described.
  15. Ive nearly run out of hardwood logs, but i have plenty of dry poplar and various types of softwood which were destined for the brushwood fire heap. Any advice as to why or why not i should mix the lot together would be very helpful. Hope you all got what you wanted for xmas. steve.
  16. A good , decent, loud alarm, the bastards hate a lot of noise. Better still a decent government. The saudi,s have right idea when it comes to thieves.
  17. i do know that in days gone by the local ratcatchers used to soak their clothes in peppermint, apparently rats do not like the smell.
  18. Im looking to buy round timber, hopefully seasoned in beds/bucks/herts. 07867563227
  19. I sold a hilux load of logs. The customer counted them and there was 340 logs. He had been buying them by the net from a garage. He was paying £5 for 12 logs. My load was £60. I dont think he has stopped smiling.
  20. Does anybody have any seasoned cordwood for sale in beds/herts or bucks. Or green ash.
  21. Mine is a gunpower stealth 2000 . its ultra light and 12lbs power. has a silencer and laser dot.
