  1. Not to far away, sharpenhoe, shillington, sundon. Two pairs of red kites were released at sharpenhoe clappers a few years ago. The kites are defiently not breeding as well as the buzzards.
  2. A lot of buzzards in my area, a couple of red kites, great to see as none of these were about when i was a kid. A couple of farmers (with shoots) shoot the buzzards as they take the young pheasants, not sure i agree with that.
  3. Ive been using a tractor the nearest thing to a mog (fastrac), but can a mog pull a 16 ton trailer, pull a 5 furrow plough? if it can and im guessing that a new mog is a lot less than a fastrac £90,000 ish then it would make sense to swap , especially with the fastracs electronic problems.
  4. Spot on james, townies move into villages but want the town life, ive known of people moving to a village, buying a house next to a pig farm, then complaining to the council about the smell and squealing when they are fed. I believe this problem started when maggie (MY HERO) sold the council houses. They are now full of townies, which is why the village pubs are closing as well.
  5. let it dry out for a couple of months and a transit load will only take a day to burn
  6. Yes i admit it,being the father of 5 kids i really believe i would enjoy seeing huntley tortured. If that makes me a psycopath then send round the men in white suits.
  7. Because if we had the death penalty , his sad little perverted life would be over in seconds and unpainfully, at least now hes got to watch his back every day of his life, we hear how these people try to commit suicide, you dont do that unless your life is absolutely crap ,i say bang em up and let them really suffer, yeah sure it costs a lot of tax payers money, but its money well spent especially when you read that the likes of roy whiting and peter sutcliffe are attacked.
  8. Im pretty sure that if you handed any of the child killers etc that have done a few years and are looking at many more a knife, they would try and kill themselves without a momments hesitation. Why? because their life is a living hell, forget playstations etc, banged up for 23 hours a day for the rest of your life is worse than dangling from a rope. Make them suffer for as long as possible and never let them out, or do what they want and bring back capital punishment.
  9. loks like elderberry or young elm
  10. In 1999 i went on a course in stratford , east london (working at heights). A series of photos were shown and i had to say what the operative was doing wrong ( according to the health & safety brigade). One of the photos had a man on one of these "A" frames cutting a connie hedge. I couldnt tell what he was doing wrong, but apparantly according to hitler he should by no means be up such a dangerous contraption and should be using a cherry picker, when i said "what if you cant get a picker in the back garden what should he use now?" He was stumped and shrugged his shoulders. Lovely bit of kit and should make a lot of jobs a lot easier.

    200t handle

Isnt that an anti-vibration rubber? £5,ish from your local dealer
  12. The closest thing to actual magic, if it existed
  13. i would of said firstly stereum hirsutum, but as it has stems then i would say you are probably maybe right. If it is polyporus then i know what your having for breakfast.
  14. Left school in 1978, trained as an agricultural engineer at at olivers luton. Joined dycol tree felling services in 1986, started my own company (glenvar) in 1990. from 1990-2008 was the main london contractor for british waterways covering 42 miles of canal & resevoir & feeder. 2008- present, light tree works, fencing, agricultural contracting.

  15. And this is why our legal system is a complete joke. Who else other than a thief would be trying to scale a 6ft high fence? I am led to believe that if the thief was to injure himself he could sue the homeowner. We live in a crazy country
  16. Im with you on this one dean, but we do seem to be on our own.
  17. A customer of mine who had been burgled nailed barbed wire along the top of his 6ft high fence, as there is a public path running along the side of his fence some nice person noticed it and reported it to the police. He was told to remove it or face prosecution. The great british legal system?
  18. Razor wire sure is a good deterant, just depends how determined they are. Wire can be cut,not sure they would want to get covered in paint or as mentioned grease twice.
  19. Keeping it legal, anti drying paint is as good a deterant as any. Legally i believe you should put up warning signs, this will also cover you for any claims for ruined nikes etc. All the proper deterants such as packs of killer dogs, man traps, the devices john rambo made in first blood have all been outlawed by the human rights wallies.
  20. Thinking of getting a few fruit trees for my yard (apple, pear, cherry). At the garden centre when i asked "where do you keep your apple trees", the man pointed to where they were.he didnt say " dont you mean malus domestica syn punila". So why do we still use these latin names?. Ive worked with trees since 1985 and never has anyone called a tree by its latin name, apart from a young lad straight out of merris wood , who gave up after a few days after he realised he was talking to himself.
  21. I used to get this on my honda powered hayter condors now and again. Reason: i left the petrol on when not using them for a couple of days, simply take the spark plug out, turn it over a few times, replace plug and off you go, and remember to turn the petrol off at the end of the day.
  22. Brilliant!
  23. "a couple of houses down the lane" If you are going to change the use of this land, these couple of houses may be informed as they may have an issue with it, which could alter the outcome wheather you get permission or not. As far as they know there could be lorries coming and going all hours.Go and introduce yourself and tell them your plans,i guarantee that if they are ignorant of the facts they will oppose any change.
  24. If they wont let you view , give it a miss, why bother to advertise it if they are so busy?
  25. Only alter those screws if you really need to, 9 times out of 10 your air filter needs cleaning or replacing, making the engine run rich as its not getting enough air.
