  1. I would think you could as its not a registered vehicle same a saw bench etc,i,m pretty sure every one runs theirs on cherry anyway.
  2. I love the way they fly from tree to tree following the combine waiting for something to come out the back, sometimes you spot them in the sky fairly low , look away and they are a mere speck as theyve soared really high very quickly, some of our land is in herts (pegsdon, higham gobian) and the numbers of buzzards has soared (erh hum) in the last few years
  3. In my area they must of quadrupled in the last 3 years , lots of red kites as well, i think the time will come when the buzzards have to be culled to a sensible population. When i was growing up i never saw a bird of prey in the wild and think its great that the skies are full of them.
  4. I always sharpen mine with a small electric grinder with good results, but i like the idea of the sharpening stones you mention, now could you let another secret out? How much and where from? cheers:thumbup1:

  6. Great idea! Only problem is that the farmer gets 20 years and the scummy thieves get millions in compensation. Tony martin should be in charge of all rural laws
  7. The landowner has decided against this idea , but thanks for all the replies. He said he doesnt want any come backs as the combine , tractor & chaser bin are left in the field over night so i see his point. So next years harvest the bowsers will be carted to a farm which has been converted into an industrial area and has cameras everywhere. Theyve also had roughly 5 lorry loads of crap dumped in one of their fields (as usual after cutting nice solid stubble) when the police were informed the reply was "thats an enviromental issue, nothing to do with us". You just cannot beat these people.
  8. I do a bit af contract work for a couple of farms, every harvest is the same : padlocks cut so they can go hare coursing and the diesel bowsers broken into. So after the last theft (wednesday night) we thought about leaving a bowser in a field with a small amount of diesel in it mixed with another ingredient that would do maximum damage to their engines. Any ideas?
  9. ditto
  10. Yeah, agreed, it would make a big difference if all the jobs were in the same postcode or scattered all over the county.
  11. Thats a serious tractor you have there jon, magnum, fendt?
  12. @ £15 thats not bad then, thanks.
  13. Sounds a beast jon and must need plenty of horses to power it, but i bet you cant get it into a typical back garden:laugh1:
  14. How long is 100m2 going to take to cut? lets say with a 30inch condor or similar.
  15. At those rates i think jon was being serious:thumbup:
  16. Spot on, can i come please.
  17. Are you sure you have your figures right? £1 to mow 100 square metres using a pedestrian mower, this just cant be right, i,m pretty sure you couidnt make it pay even if you had a load of playing fields to mow, let alone the odd garden here and there using a ride on,the fuel alone would be more than your earning.
  18. I second that, if you know exactly what you want , why waste time and fuel.
  19. If i remember rightly there is a brass gause between the oil tank and the feed to the chain, this blocks up with sawdust etc, hence low oil feed to the chain, i,m probably wrong, but worth a look.
  20. Does anyone have any experience as to how long green billeted wood will last under cover? Mine are stacked on pallets with plywood strapped on top with the sides open to the elements.
  21. Very impressive!
  22. Yeah , also saw that, first thing i thought, Easy lift guy.
  23. Thanks for the advice but i havnt a clue what browser means, i did have a computer starters book a few years ago, but as soon as i got to a word like icon , that was it i couldnt go ant further cos i didnt know what it meant. This may sound like a wind up to anyone under 30, but when i was at school the most technology we had was the digital calculator .Dont waste your time helping me as it all goes straight over my head.
  24. We,ve only just got that there television thing here
  25. and the running around for materials plus time looking and pricing the job,had a bloke a few weeks ago that wanted 3 portugese panels @£47.00 each erected, when i said £300 his reply was "oh thats far to much i dont want to spend anymore than £150,best thing was he showed me the panels he wanted in his wickes book and could clearly see the price of them.
