  1. mate the two pics you posted are definetly oak and cedar no doubt,,,but theres a massive amount of people who know there woods and know when they see oak,,,and as Ive milled over 20 large logs of cedar,,,(all types) in the last six months,,I know that your bits are oak,,, heres a bench I made from cedar,,and a oak table ,,2 totally different looks,,,,
  2. no I buy it from big J on here,,,dont have elm in these parts,,,, just dont buy the bits waiting for me,,lol:001_tt2:
  3. no offence taken mate,,my style is just my way,,like to keep it simple,,always trying diffent methods,by no means are any of them the correct way,,,but they work,,and more importanly sell,lol,,,,
  4. I have a lad who works 7hrs a day converting my arb waste into roughly 7 cubic bags of £80 a bag logs ,,,sometimes more,,,depending on his hangover,,lol,,,how can that not be viable?,,what else would I do with it? and believe me ,,only the waste wood goes to logs,,,,?

  8. to be fair kev ,the stuff I bought from you, isnt that wide , but its seasoning nicely ,with your details and the woods origin , when its ready to work (next yr) will let you know,,sure we can sort out a good deal, let me have pics of the oak,,,
  9. Oak all day long,,,,and I know,,that beetle is the bain of my life,,,,,
  10. yes mate,,,with large index screws to pull it up tight, and gorila glue , the legs are morticed and tennoned,,,
  11. now that was a dilemia? but ended up with decking oil,as had run out of linseed, and its linseed based,,,had a new type of varnish which is matt finnish, but didnt want to risk the first go of it on this bench,,too nice

  14. hi guys whats the going rate for wavey edge boards? got a customer who wants some 12" wide WRC boards 1" thick? how much is it per metre? ft?
  15. hi mate am after some more burr elm,have you got any boards like you sent me last time? or bur yew? 2"thick(ish)?

  17. hi matt, most of the stuff i make is from stuff I`ve milled a few yrs ago, and is now nicely air dried, but some of the stuff like the elm,was bought from Big J on here,,he kiln drys it,,,and it can be quite uneven,hence buying the planer,,,I can face one side up and then thickness it,,,the benches vary in price depending on the wood,,,cedar and Oak round about £250 -£300 and the yew and elm ones £350ish,,,
  18. hi matt yes,,Ive a workshop I rent,,slowly built up my tools,,and machinery,,got a nice 24" planner which have restored,,which makes life so much easier,,,
  19. tis good chris, proportions look ok,,I`d agree on notching the feet abit,,but apart from that sweet, thats how I make my story telling seats,,,well done,,,,
  20. got any pics of that alec? fitch plate,,,?like to see it,,,
  21. made these up in the last week or so, and sold them all,,,oak,cedar,and some of Big J`s lovely burr elm
