I agree with alec, I cut my timber up 90% of the time for my own use, then also keep stock beams, of 6x6 ,8x8 etc for the odd builder you wants some,there always handy for another building in my yard too, I turn all the timber into benches,tables etc and get a good return on it, as I have a market of shows I have been doing for over 15 yrs, even the small bits get used for bird boxes etc, and all slab wood goes to firewood, givig me a return for my millig time and fuel. I`d plank the yew in various thicknesses, and decide what you want to do with end product of the oak and go from there,, good luck,,,
  6. drove my motorrbike right through france last yr,,and saw field apon field of 1 meter long firewood stacked under tin sheets just drying in the wind,,,they seem to all be doing it the same way,,,, I put some soaking wet oak in my lean too last yr stacked to the roof,,six months later bone dry,,,,,,bingo!

  8. from my experience, the field maple I milled and turned into lovely bowls,,,,the norway maple I milled was very furry and not so good,,,,could have just been a bad tree though,,worth a go i`d say,,,,

  10. why bother if your trucks empty? or did you use something different,ie 4x4 toget it to back of truck? sorry if im ot getting it?
  11. the guy in the kitchen in sherwoods wood is tom dillion,, great guy, I spent a week in the woods with him earlier this yr,,he cruises around helping out on various wood projects,,,plays a mean guitar too!!!
  12. nearly out of logs already, so if itgets cold,,adios to a hotter climate for some serious chillin!!!

  17. they also charge 5K for a revamp,,,,,
