yeah i gathered you ment someone else. i like the 0.65 bags as i can pull a full bag off the pick up on my own and can leave the logs in bag if thats how customer wants it. going to get some sections made up for my tipping trailer so each section can hold .065 or 1.2 cube. will make things bit easier and less handling,

i think you have found a good end to your issue. well done! Personally i think its important to offer a range of load sizes. I typical do 0.65, 1.2 and 1.8 cube size loads but can accomodate larger sizes if needed. I dont want to loose a customer due to being to rigid on load size. I appreciate if i was a bigger bet up that more load sizes can create problems but for me it works well.

I dont understand why you dont just put your price up and keep the 1cube bags? I sell 0.65cube bulk bags @ £65 and sell them with ease. Works really well for me as they are my half load, my pick up being 1.2 cube.

I may do that steve, what do you reckon to it? i cant afford a decent trailer as i dont do much forwarding, just want it to shift my own firewood really

Phil your right mate, I have only been in the game myself for 4 years but I'm trying bloody hard to make a real go of establishing and growing a firewood business. There are 3 or 4 new guys local to me starting up this winter, they aren't in it for the long run just boys doing it for beer money. Thats what gets my goat more then anything, the lads in it for a quick dollar are normally the ones charging bugger all. But hey ho, I know my firewood is the best in the area and I charge appropriately. I'm happy with how busy I am. I've had 12 orders this week, all from new customers. There must be some firewood chaps doing something wrong near me to be loosing that amount of customers. I think customers in my area are sick of getting crap logs and are coming around to the fact that most quality things in life come at a premium.

eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace Had been keeping my eye on this and was going to bid on it tomorrow depending on its price.........and its just been taking off ebay, presuming its sold Looked a good trailer, oh well the hunt goes on

The driving rain and sleet really forced me inside to do invoices this morning But dragged myself out of the warm house at 3pm and did one local truck load and filled the truck back up for the morning. I have different layout in my yard this winter and it is helped things no end. Makes things so much quick and easier, especially if i'm on my own. 2 of us can roar through the logs.

i havent stacked one load this year, i had stacking service as an extra printed on my flyers last year, had it took off for this winter as i just dont have the time. Like Steve though, I do make exeptions but do charge what its worth. ALways make sure 2 off us are delivering when a stack is required though, normally last load of the day also.

arran, when i can get them i use them wooden crates that builders and landscapers get materials delivered in. perfect for storing logs in. or construct a bay out of pallets and chuck logs in there. just keep logs off the ground and the top covered and you'll be fine. where in essex are you mate?

SOme proper funny replies Seriously though, i'd try having a chat with her first. she may be sound with you. I wouldnt give her any excuses though regarding letting the horses come near the area of work and possibly get hurt. Horses are worse then sheep and always getting daft injuries. If things do get funny with her, I'd seriously consider giving the RSPCA a bell. 25 horses or so on 5 acres is not cool at all and there is no way in hell they are getting enough to eat from that alone. I hate any type of animal cruelty and the saddest is from people who cant afford to look after there loved animals. Seen it plenty of times and the kindest thing is to get RSPCA in.

actually spoke to someone today whos neighbour ordered a 2cm crate of firewood from these people last christmas. funny thing was the delivery people missed the arranged drop off time, when it was delivered the neighbour had gone away. cause the crate was tighty shrink wrapped, when they got back there was a a crate of logs sitting in a few inches of rain water!!

Just having a brouse round some Firewood websites to get some ideas and stumbled across this one https://www.logsdirect.co.uk/Catalog-Kiln-Dried-Hardwood_14.aspx Hats off to the fella if he is selling Dumpie bags @ £145 each and 1cm crates for £150. The logs in the crates look great if you have a truck with suitable crane to lift off. Fair play to him for trying something different there. Also nice to see someone more expensive then me

2 bulk bags, 2 pick up loads and a trailer load this morning, trailer worked great - unfortunately i forgot to unplug the remote and towed it along the rd for a good mile till remembered doh!
