  1. I like the end bit too! "It has been pretty windy in town today and you can have a really healthy tree but if the wind catches in a particular way a healthy tree can be blown over" Charlie
  2. Would class 1 do? I'm thinking class 2 or am I underestimating my saws?
  3. Right, I'm looking for a new pair of chaps or trousers. I got the chaps when i got the saw not paying too much attention to the ratings . but I had some seat less style ones with just belt loops at the front which I don't want anymore and decided to go for trousers and type C so that just leaves the chain speed. What ones do you use with what size saw? the biggest saw I have is only 62cc and with a 18" bar and chain sometimes 16" sometimes 22" but hopefully i will be getting a 372xp soon so what do you recommend? Charlie
  4. I bought a pair of vale chainsaw gloves the leather ones (are they any good?) just to see if i like wearing them or not £15 cant go wrong. chain speed is 20ms not sure if that's right for a 60cc saw with 8 pin and a 16" bar but somethings better than nothing! Charlie
  5. chop saw and A nice sharp billhook or 6...... i only sell a couple of bags so i sit on a tall log smaller log in front and split a bit with a fire going opposite
  6. has anyone made there own alaskan style mill? yes i'm too cheap to buy one! I will only use it on a small saw (62cc) 22" bar so that will give me i think about the wrong side of 18" cut? i just want some nice bits of small oak for a bit of carpentry.pictures would be appreciated
  7. I haven't seen a rear handled 201 only 200 but i guess they must do them but i haven't been looking for one!

  14. I would if i had a longer bar say 40" or more

  19. Get a 090 and fit it with a 50" canon bar and put a 18" on the 880 for cutting firewood Charlie
  20. To be honest I don't lube the sprocket on the bar i only do it once when its new and that's all it gets unless the bar and chain go right in the ground. and i cant help you with the clutch as i don't have any of the new husky's yet............. Charlie

Bet its those lanterns again! LOL Charlie
  22. there all different 1/4 picco = 1/8 1/4 =5/32 3/8 picco =5/32 .325 =3/16 3/8 =13/64 .404 = 7/32 That according to the piece of paper printed by Stihl Charlie
  23. Oh it comes in handy like the time i dropped a roll of chain put that Suffolk punch clutch drum on it and used the tail stock to camp it in put it on a low speed and about 5 mins later done! Oh and apply the chain brake and its easier to file all the teeth which face the same way then turn the saw round in the vice but its up to you! Charlie
  24. That should say next not new...
  25. Now filing the chain the teeth face two directions with the "point" on the left and the new tooth the point will be on the right you should always file away from the chain like this This it for a tooth that the point is on the left And the right (you can just make out the mark i was talking about on top of the tooth earlier) You should try to keep all the strokes the same length and the same amount of strokes on each tooth although it will still cut it will be uneven and the saw will shake allot and can also increase the risk of kickback if they are too short Another thing to keep the same lengths are the rackers these are the sticky up bits in front of the teeth. but yes there is a tool for that which is this thing (which is on the far right of the picture showing what you get) This picture is a bit rubbish but Now you hold that on top of the teeth and put the racker between the slot and then use your flat file to file down to the tool Now i probably forgot some bits bit i'm sure people will correct me and fill stuff in! Charlie
