  1. £595 for the 560 with 15" £496.99 for the 550 with 15" Husqvarna 560XP chainsaw (59.8cc) | F R Jones and Son Husqvarna 550XP chainsaw (50.1cc) | F R Jones and Son the 455 rancher what i said about earlier seems alright too could also get a 365 xtorq and take the baffles out the transfers thus making it almost a 372xp
  2. The 560xp on 15" bar is a stonking saw if you could stretch to it i put the first 6 tanks through mine doing jobs around the house today cant wait till its run in 550xp is a good saw too! although not that much cheaper
  3. husky 455? not used one but feel good
  4. Hi chazzerb I am/ was the same position you are in now a few months ago, i see you have chosen the right saws from the word go! and you certinanly didnt get ripped off! i would get a helmet asap husky ofc! although i do prefer the old builder style Stihl ones like ive got! you seem to have some good saws i first started off with a komatsu G621avs but my first saw i bought was 262xp quickly followed by a 154se for a bit of fun! although be carefull the saws breed overnight! and i would get on a course if your serious about it and/or have had no real teaching or use of saws before. Also wear your ppe i know someone who liked to wear water proof trousers and he was lucky as soon as he put the chaps on he hit is leg carried on and hit his leg again! in the space of 5 mins! he blamed it on the huskys (stihl man) although its nothing to joke about.. but i will say he isnt the sharpest tool in the box! Charlie
  5. i might get the 254xp out the back of the shed for a fettle up then see if i can get it running like it was then maybe of to spuds for light porting
  6. i didnt word that right really i meant a old or new saw and a dull or sharp chain as i guess for the cs30 you will have to sharpen one
  7. 395xp with 20" or 18" bar it is then! or maybe the komatsu G621avs that saw is the most reliable i own considering its probably the oldest!
  8. Ive got a few places to ring round tomorrow for tickets might see if the ag engineering company i work for will pay for the cs30 course as i do work on chainsaws for them so they might want someone somewhat qualified. is it better to take a dull well used saw or a razor sharp almost new saw? for the cs30?
  9. weight would be possible but would be allot of extra work as there forwarder doesn't have scales so i would have to load up a sling then weigh it like that on there set of scales and i would be reluctant to do it on volume as its sweet chestnut and they want it for fire wood so most of the smaller stuff will be left behind charlie
  10. well, that's a tricky one! i have used 20 liters a day before thats me running a 254xp and a 262xp with a longer bar so it would not cover the fuel although last time he brought 20l for me a day
  11. No i don't work alone in the woods that is the first thing that was drummed into me well not with a saw anyway.
  12. I've told his son that i am not doing it for that and he said well i would have to negotiate a price with his it has to be down by December the 19th this year so they better come up with a price soon or get some else to do it!
  13. just found this Arbor Venture Training Arboriculture Courses and Assessments would i be able to do the cs 30 and 31 or just the cs30.1 and 30.2
  14. I want to but from my understanding you have to be 17 and I already have a full time job in agricultural engineering, although that's not a excuse for no tickets!
  15. well he is sort of a family friend
  16. He wants to keep all the wood for firewood all i have to do is fell and cut to "sensible" lengths he sells firewood and that is what i done a price on last time 200 tonnes cut split and in bags although now he has bought a expensive posch 350 processor and forwarding crane although 200 tonnes was too much for me with only tractor saw axe and wedges i wouldn't want to do it like that again! very long days although when i bought the 395xp instead of the 262xp that sped things up!
  17. I have no idea! that why i am asking here at my apprenticeship 8am-5pm £40 a day not including overtime. I get a idea of what a groundy is worth by previous threads and its seems to be about £80 although that's completely different
  18. that's what i thought! although i forgot to say that i am only 16 and currently no tickets but i don't want this thread to revolve around having no tickets insurance and so on i have been on a course although unofficial with a instructor and covered cs 30 31 and 32 and also my father has worked in the woods most of his life so i can handle a saw
  19. I know this has been asked many times but how much a day for someone with there own saw ,PPE, and fuel? I have been asked to clear fell about 3-4 acres of sweet chestnut. I have done some work for the people before on a price and everyone was happy. Although today the owner of the woods rang me up and said if i was interested in some day work at weekends so of course i said yes he asked me how longer day i would work so 7-5 and he came back with £25 a day! is this the going rate now? what would you expect to get? Charlie
  20. Ahh right well i have a 154se that's why i wanted to know the difference i will get that 254xp to go with the 262xp though one day! Charlie
  21. Maybe this is just for the 266xp http://www.arboristsite.com/chainsaw/140572.htm
  22. Well if someone leaves and becomes self employed you will know who it is/was! Charkie
  23. i was thinking along the lines of xp and xpw
  24. What is the difference between the Se and Sg? The porting of the cylinder? Charlie
