  1. It runs fine at low and moderate rpm, but when I open the throttle, there is a BIG cloud of white or lightblue smoke (can,t really tell with all that snow ) It smells like burned oil. The engines is at 450 hours. Pascal
  2. Hi guys, need your help on the stump grinder engine. The Honda GX670 produces white smoke, I already checked the following : - cleaned the carb, nothing wrong with it. - checked the vacuum fuel pump, let the engine run with the gas tank above the engine, avoiding the fuel pump. This is to enliminate if the pump would suck oil from the crankcase. The cranckcase breather is clean and free. - ignition, both sparks are firing. Strangely one cylinder stays cold while the other one is hot. I guess the cylinder head gasket is blown ?? How do you remove an OVH head. Just loosen the 4 bolt and take it of, or do you have to remove the valves, springs, push rods, tumblers etc ? I am going for a pressure tester tomorrow, and measure the difference between the 2 cylinders. Maybe this will confirm the gasket issue. Any ideas ? Pascal
  3. I use this one for a few years now : Simpson Winch Bought it from Ebay without engine and mounted an old light Dolmar chainsaw on it. It is great for pulling over trunks or even complete trees (tie in high !). I also use it to pull the Jobeau on the truck (with a block) when I am alone on a small job. It has not enough power to drag logs over the ground, and the rope is limited to 10 mm. The winch has about 1000 kg pulling force. I always have it with me, I dont leave for a job without it Pascal

    Wow.

I knew it was fake...nobody will fool around with a .50 cal. Pascal
  5. I have had warranty replacements for a cracked and broken infeed housing on the Jobeau. I spoke to the big boss, he said there has been some trouble with the steel quality of some series. These problems should be solved now. So if anything breaks, claim your warranty. Pascal
  6. -5°C in Belgium and 10 cm of snow Pascal
  7. That is what I do. If the van is not in sight or near the work, I take all the shiny machinery out. The only tools left in the van are some shovels, an axe, some spare fuel and oil and some rope. I don't take the risk. I even put a lock on the trailer attachment. P
  8. Idem here, 48 and still climbing smoothly. I often wonder when my time will come to stop. It must be a though moment when you realise the moment is there. I think it will be around the age of 55. P
  9. Nice weather too, in BE it was raining today. P
  10. I have Fulda winter tyres on my Merc 412, double wheels. Great stuff, even for driving over wet lawns or light mud. I keep them on in summer too. Pascal
  11. Well, I have the owners manual here with me as I bought my JB new. The anvil should be set at 0.5 mm from the chipper knife. From my experience (7 years I have my M300) 0.5 to 0.8 mm works fine. Just keep the knifes razor sharp, I sharpen them after every 25 to 30 hours. Pascal
  12. I agree, have the best experience with Edelrid and also Antec. Pascal
  13. Just what I think....
  14. I clean the saws and change chains after each decent working day. I sharpen the chain of the "day" and put it back in the van. So I am rotating chains, 3 per saw. Have 6 saws of which one with 2 bar lengths (dolmar PS7900) Pascal
  15. They only go up when the weather is good, and no thunderstorms coming up. It takes a few hours to go up and down, one job per day. Seen it on Discovery Channel once Pascal
  16. Although very windy in Belgium (to 100 kph) no calls to clear up fallen trees But now people will start thinking about possible damage to houses again, I guess the phone will start ringing this weekend. Going to quote 6 big poplars tomorrow, big ones in a small garden Pascal
  17. the guys says "I need to slow it down" why is that ??? I would put a chainsaw engine on the thing and rev it up to 14000 rpm...that will work Pascal
  18. The Clarck log jack seems and interesting device, is it on the website ? I can't find it Pascal
  19. Have a look at this "hand" splitter..... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bVAAx3mMKY]YouTube - WORLDS FASTEST LOGSPLITTER[/ame]
  20. Seems a great tool, I use a Wolf Gerate pole with a hook. It extends to 4 m, very handy. Pascal
  21. Leaking O ring, or dirt between the pump and the housing, or a crack in a tube. Remove and clean the pump and reinstall. I solved oil leaks that way. Good luck. Pascal
  22. Donnow.....I am from Belgium
  23. Got a quote .... 4834 euro without VAT, should be about 4200 pounds. Pascal
  24. Allright !! I often sell the chips on the way home, I keep a list of people that want them. It is easy to come home with an empty trailer Or I dump them at my brothers place, he is a florist and has a biofuel furnace. When it is freezing cold like now he needs about 3 to 4 m3 per day Pascal
  25. I would go for the new Jobeau stump grinder. Have a look at the video, very handy with the pivot point, and the round teeth can be turned 3 times (3 x 120°) stump grinder | Jobeau products B 13 - 80 Pascal
