  1. What cord you using? jerky & unpredictable? don't it just lock up & with an up take free it up? Is a clean rope a yes for proper LJ efficiant use?
  2. This image would do wonders for the sale of saws to people who like to have a go!
  3. Ta for info. Hope to make the time to get their!
  4. I have asked Qu as to the reason the action of the LJ is so crap in the wet & one awnser was dirty rope which may be true now & then due to the fact I have to use them to work.. I would play about with knot config mate. Have fun:thumbup1:
  5. The care taker came out this morning saying 'I wish a big branch would fall of & smash a car' why? 'Their a danger these things' Why? 'Look at them their huge' ok what do you want done? 'Hack some branches off mate! I don't care' OK then mush see you later.. Befor & after shots. He saw what came off & after a little chat:thumbup1: Willow in the back groung is not my work I have to say!
  6. Used one for about 2 years. Not good on wet rope as has a very jearky reaction. Good tool otherwise. Cam & other part the rope is pushed on are the only bits that need replacing now & then. I would go through a cam once every 2 months or so & other plate once every 6 months. I have moved back to the knut with the hitchclimber now, as the HC gives all the advantages of the LJ imo. Using a knot config gives a better form of control in any situation dependant on how it is tied, set ect. For my £ if I were you I would go for a hitchclimber with a knot config & cord type that works for you.
  7. Seen some nice chicks in the past few weeks! A little early in my book too:lol:
  8. How about 5ft 11 man on 65ft chestnut tops wind sail effect:lol:

AARRGH! done me marrow in:001_tt2: Ta for info:thumbup1:
  10. I don't like 'reducing' trees. This seems a futile atempt in the control of an organisam that will in most cases come back with vengance. However I do see a market for this method & an understanding for the end result. As a layman I feel the reduction in sail area with removal of the outer limits of the tree is a consept I can grasp with ease. I would like to see a movement to structural re-location pruning & thinning to achive a reduction in sail. Having said this I do like to prune a tree now & then to look real nice to the eye:thumbup1:
  11. No befor:thumbdown: But not much to go on spec wise! Happy with what I did though. An amazing tree for it's age & compaction & limb removal history!
  12. No stats no idea of what's involved, but a controversial subject never the less! Knot climbing systems as aposed to mechanical asent & desenent devices! A war of words from our most skilled German arb's..
  13. Keep up your ethical work:001_smile:. Alot of power line work I have seen is for want of a better word SH*T! I Did 1 day for a large utilty co & that was enough for me! I have worked for many co's but the utility sector IMO has the worst ethical standard's that I have seen & heard of from people who have done time with.. If only people like yourself could be a majoraty in the utility way then maybe our industry could move up a notch in the eyes of the government & those that would like to make our industury a skilled trade! Keep up the good ethics:thumbup1:
  14. Ancient oak branching out:001_smile:
  15. Well the start of brit summer time yesterday acording to the powers that be. Lets hope they wrong as is the norm after todays soaking! Birds are all dong their bit early in the SE as far as I've seen so far so let's hope they on the right track.. Having said that I hate the summer for work as I not a heat resistant type! More so in my chainsaw get up hauling me self about the trees.

    S.r.t?

Thanks for info & ideas jarnii. Will get some gear together soon & start playing about. The weight at the end of the rope is something many people have stressed to me. I think my 020 weighing it down is my fav so far.
  17. Lol:thumbup1: that was what I wanted:001_tt2:
  18. Pikey me is as most would post! But the best work I can boast! I have worked both far & wide in my small circle we reside. Pikey famaly we WON'T hide..The art of tree work is in the attitude in how it its presented to the gorjie masses imo! The love for trees & nature is second nature to alot of skilled! persons who get into this line of wrk.
  19. Sounds nice, when & how much £ you going to give me? Food, flight n acom I will sort if the £ is right!? & time as I have enough on but would like to do a contract over their if the work is good & £ is right:thumbup1: other wise! I don't give much care to such offers unless I have been offerered! Don't mean to apear arogant, but hey!
  20. Thanks Rob, top bannana:thumbup1:
  21. As well as gun powder the Alder was used for clogs due to it's soft easy working nature & the warmth & water proofing qualitys of the wood. In scotland it used for chair making & called scotish mahogany.
  22. Thanks for the info. The cost not a prob to me it's just storage. As I am a sub contract climber I get about a bit. I have a place in mind to aproch with the storage issue though, fingers crossed.. The full commit to it's use is what I want to do. Where do you get the 300ltr bulk buy & storage container? aaco direct? could only find the 200ltr on their site:confused1:
  23. As I worked out on an aveage day I would need to put another £5 0r £6 on the day to cover the extra cost of it. Not a bad price for a better wrk enviroment imo. The selling the extra price to cliants on the enviromental tac I would hope dose it.
  24. This is my thought to. I would love to use it all the time I just need to find a place to store it in quantity as it is avalablale in 5ltr plastic cans or 200ltr drums. Can,t blame your boss for not wanting to use this regulury, I have found it a prob talking anyone into using it. The cost in a tight margin bussines is defo a big one. I would use it only on eco sensitive wrk alone in the 5ltr cans but I have try this befor & found probs with engien run prob due to it's cleaner burn.
