  1. I was thinking a pantin would be a given. Thrusting a single line is pretty much impossible, I'd like to see someone who can do it!
  2. If you can footlock a double rope, do that, then get your groundsman to pull your system up to you. Works well with pulley based systems and the ART devices. Or base tie one side of the system, ascend the other srt, then have it untied and pull it up once you're in the canopy. This works fine but remember if you're ascending on only a hitch, you cannot descend without additional friction.
  3. Probably best if it gets hit by a vehicle behind than running off onto footpaths imo.
  4. 90% climbing, 10% felling, been pretty much that way since I started. I wouldn't touch landscaping or fencing, I haven't a clue how to do either.
  5. If you can find someone who can fix a red ring of death, you can have my 360.
  6. Most I've used in one day subbing was 12L. It balances out against the silky reductions though
  7. No, you build your fuel costs into your day rate. Some days you might lose a bit but most you should be earning from it
  8. Right up my street that is, if only I had four matching axes. Can you send me a link to where you saw it?
  9. Beats putting someone's dodgy mix in your saw and then having the argument about who's to blame
  10. Any chance of a link to it? Your picture won't load for me:what:
  11. With the 100k radius coming in, it'll exempt most arbs
  12. I had a similar problem, turned out to be a loose dawg. One was straight and the other curling away from the bar slightly.
  13. You know there's a time limit on a claim? Imagine the thought of having a winner and not getting the payout because of taking too long about it!
  14. Never much on the main lottery but I won on four scratch cards in a row last week. £18 spent, £50 won
  15. As far as I can make out, lifting isn't it's primary function so it comes under PUWER rather than LOLER.
  16. Knocked up this Elm and Wellingtonia sand pit during the summer
  17. T**t tax gets applied to these types.
  18. My lab was going to be a gundog, she comes from great working lines but unfortunately she's petrified of guns, even in the distance. Strangely enough she isn't bothered by fireworks in the slightest, sometimes she doesn't even seem aware of them. I've always walked her at night so she became exposed to fireworks from a distance. To start with we were so far off that they were clearly visible but inaudible to me. We've progressed to the point now that when we let a few off at the weekend, she's more annoyed that we're outside without her than she is about the noise. Knowing how she is when she hears guns I really feel for anyone with a firework shy dog, must be horrible to deal with. At least guns can generally be avoided and don't go off every night for the first fortnight of November.
  19. 250 is good for sycamore as far as I know, though pollarding can make a big difference to longevity. Maybe Mr Humphries could provide a better answer....
  20. I doubt it was topped, it's been managed as a pollard for quite a while as far as I know. Devon twig, would you pay more for it's wood? :what:
  21. Let me know when and I'll see if I'm free
  22. Do you make your own biltong John? I know you make a few meaty things. Found a recipe/guide to make it recently and I'm in two minds whether to try it out
