  1. I was thinking has butvthey want nigh on £100 for 2 days with a 55mm chipper. Its a last resort. I don't need a big one for the job I've got on. There is always shades of green near Runcorn but I think they only do bigger TW. I can hire a 12" pto timberwolf for £80 per day. I've got a tractor that will run it and has done before. If I really need one I can use that. It's a shame places don't hire out more of a range of chippers. But I spoke to one guy and he said every time it came back it was battered and abused
  2. Stihl all the way for everything if I can. Then if something ain't right there's only one place to go! I've been told no more than a few weeks. If my saws are left half full for over a week I empty the fuel out.
  3. I would also be interested in one of these for a day or maybe two. Mike could you by any chance pm me if you get the price through? It would be greatly appreciated.
  4. Northern means north england not Scotland Any ideas for a date?
  5. you beepy beep beeeeeep beep!
  6. i however, do have it on steam! i lvoed playing the single player with godmode on run through hordes of zombies with the chainsaw running and you manage to make a mess!
  7. M62 by Huddersfield. I couldn't believe it. Copper must have had a good night with the mrs the night before!
  8. i had this, i was doing 80 down a dual carrigeway and a guy was stood at the end of a straight and he was there in a hi viz jacket down a junction. He pointed to me and signalled to slow down, i did after he told me and he just gave me a thumbs up and i carried on. More coppers like that please. My dad was pulled by an unmarked on the m62 doing 101 and got let off, he gave a good story and we were in a hurry at the time to get somewhere, very lucky that day!
  9. I followed samisens directions by inserting at Mark c. I had got the cover all the way through to where it is in the pic. It's difficult to near impossible to get it to go past the core still in the rope. A wire fid and a pusher of some sort will help me next time. I won't let it beat me!
  10. I don't know of I've caught any. I think it's just because it's a tube fid and it's quite tightly woven so there's almost no room to squeeze the fid down. I just want to get it out so I can try again with a wire fid. I'm gutted as I had my head around what to do aswell!
  11. Looks like I'll be investing in some tools from treeworker. What about that splicing wand? Bit expensive mind! @sjb I thought that I may aswell make a nice easy big accessible gear loop. Thinking about buying some more small biners and putting them on for floating attachment points. @Peter. I'll have a go tomorrow. I'd been battling with the 16 strand for about 3 hours and had done a splice before that. So after about 5 hours of splicing my hands had lost all dexterity! Here's a pic to show where I got stuck on 16 strand. Spot the fid poking out! I can't get it out. Might pull it all and try again with a wire one when I get some.
  12. Made a full loop for on my harness struggled with the final bury. Couldn't quite get the crossover to sit inside the throat of the splice. Had a go at 16 strand. What a nightmare! Got about at inch past where the core comes out after feeding the cover back in and it's so tight I can't even get my fid out. I use a tubular one. Is a wire one much better I'm guessing? Would love to do one of nods courses!
  13. Mr policeman says "so mike, how exactly did you manage to destroy all this property?" Mike says "well I thought there was a wasp nest inside one o' me logs and was told that it's probably just them collecting nest materials. Not taking any chances I poured brake fluid and ep90 on it and dropped a match on it. Not realising I was inside and near a vehicle as I left the scene. That's when I started running and knocked the acetylene near the flames. And we now stand were the doors used to be."
  14. She added: ‘I regret the fact that I lost the medals and I would love to get them back one day. I loved my brother and miss him every day, but I wanted to give my son the best.’ The best what, tan? Thats a disgrace, if something like that happened to me, i would remember the fallen, not take advtange for something as material and selfish as a holiday!
  15. yeah look on the internet also for tree ID, as books give you the 'ideal world' example. So get on the internet and look for other pics, even ask on here for pics as you will get a better understanding of the variations that single species can do. They should ask for a 3 knot (closed) system, they did on mine, which is bowline to blakes hitch and figure 8 stopper knot.
  16. Try an osteopath. I had a problem with inflamed joints in my back. Two sessions and I was done. Cracking guy. Prepare to be jumped on though! Best money I've spent this year. Not had a single problem since!
  17. I couldn't understand where to cut the core before I milked it all together so pulled it really far through and cut it. Turns out that's what I shouldn't have done! You could pull the cross over back out the splice, but it was still strong. It actually fell apart when I was finishing the last one as its on the other end of that rope. I'm giving 16 strand a go tomorrow. Any tips for that?
  18. And again, this is my latest and best so far!
  19. Another pic. Can only do one at a time from my phone
  20. Sjb you should learn. I have been and I've caught the fever. Been doing 3 strand a bit and got good at that. Been using the rope high scale (thanks mate!!) sent me and also bought some off honey bros. Tested my first one with a 250kg weight and there was no chance of it budging! Even though I cut out too much of the core at the end. It still worked fine. It has since fell apart but I've done a couple more with smaller eyes and they have both worked fine! Here's a few pics
  21. Hey I'm just testing out this new app. I was getting popups on my phone saying arbtalk was compatible and I decided to get the app. More handy on the phone as the forum doesn't have a mobile friendly view. Now it does! Thanks Steve! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. behind megan fox! I would love to work over in new zealand, a goal that i think may be closer is tree maintenance on a big estate, lots of big trees to climb and lots of work!
  23. its fairly near a gypsy camp so thats a possibility? big bolt it does seem like a ringbarking attempt. its failed as the tree still seems vigorous and is showing no signs of decline or stress. IT doesnt look like an ivy removal job as theres no evidence of it in the immediate area
  24. heres ours, does turfwork hence the gay tyres! High speed verti-drain on the back, its like a sewing machine, it runs at a pto speed of 450-480rpm and when walking behind it you cant even follow one of the sets of tines as its going so damn fast!
  25. Spotted this down at the local park whilst out on a walk with the other half, her sister and her boyfriend, and the two dogs! DOnt know why anyone would do this. Plus a picture of an old stump of what i believe to be a sycamore and the dogs next to it.
