  1. yeah i will do that too, only needs the slightest adjustment as its such a small modification, maybe get a video too!
  2. i do like the look of that spyder outfit, that reminds me, i do actually snowboard! i forgot about that!
  3. i have recently modded the muffler on my 260, but i am yet to try it in some wood, hopefully this weekend! I opened up the two existing holes marginally and evenly and on the little box on the inside i added a few more holes and made them a fair size, its very discreet and it sounds ace now, i feel it revs up slightly qiucker and seems like there is mroe power there across the band will post up what i find!
  4. i have a 200t, ms260, 039, husky 365 and a 357 and currently keeping hold of a 340 for a friend, all of these leak some oil, the huskys do actually leak more. the 357 and 340 have been sat for a while but leak oil, the 039 isnt too bad but the 200t and 260 both leak oil
  5. i have noticed this with a few saws i own, if not almost all of them, they are sat on steel shelves so anything that comes off will sit there, when i pick them up there is a puddle of chain oil sat in their place, and i was wondering what i should do about it?
  6. i have used one for tree work, i know a guy who uses only these harnesses. They are fine for trees, they come out as a good cheap alternative too! I find them good having a fixed D and a sliding D, you have a choice!
  7. heres my attempt, original pic and then photoshopped to give the desired effect
  8. I've bought some new ropes after considering it. Some 14mm double esterlon some 12 strand xtc and some xtc honey bee to give me a good range to practice on. Was hoping to be able to use the honey bee as a lanyard if it turned out right. Although its probably notthe best idea.
  9. im gonna say the one that hasnt made it there!
  10. the only hobby i need! not really, i hardly watch telly. dont actually think i have many past times, most spare time is either with the gf or sleeping or playing in my container with the saws and stuff. wow that makes me seem so sad
  11. with shorts that short i would definately ask him to stand further back!
  12. so yeah came back from a week away got some 11mm double braid from B&Q. they want almost £4 per metre which just seems stupid as there are no strength ratings or anything for it. considering we can buy working ropes from anywhere for half the price? i think i will buy some of those splicing fids for the ropes. Ill send the PM over now!
  13. busted!...
  14. i get the straps really really tight and i find it holds it fine? i have a 330mm zubat and a 240mm gomtaro, i started with the gomtaro but having that short blade makes bigger branches harder as you have to do more short strokes to cut the same branch, bought the zubat and never looked back!
  15. If any of you have been wondering. You probably haven't. I've been away in Luxor in Egypt since the 14th. And got back home about 2 hours ago. Went to the valley of the kings and all the major temples. Went to see king tut aswell and saw his mummy which was ace. Still didn't stop me looking at trees though! Round the pool they had pollarded what looked like tree ferns to give nice tight canopies to give good shade from the 45+ degree heat! I'll have some photos up when I've caught some sleep. There isnt a single cloud in any picture! Boy oh boy I have a lot of Reading to catch up on!!!
  16. Crow wood is where the spiking poles and the ladder oak are situated. Right next to the stumble inn and across the track from the sport staff offices. If you've climbed any fair size trees as MC you've been into crow wood.
  17. I'm aware of that. But if it's just practice surely if a rope is part worn then the extra bit of a challenge would make it easier to learn? I'd still be grateful for any tips on the tools used and stuff. I'm not sure on what fid to buy?
  18. Hey guys I've just started dabbling in splicing. In 48hrs I've mastered the 3 strand splice. I would like to try other ropes such as double braids and 16 strand. I need some advice on what tools to use for 16 strand and also does anybody have some retired rope that isn't too damaged I could practice on? I'll pay for postage on any that is available. I'm not afte long lengths. A minimum of 1m but I'm not all fussy. Any help at all would be apprecaited. I've properly caught the bug for it now!
  19. common sense seems to be a gift nowadays! There are always jobs going in any career, but a fresh student isnt going to have a chance, i myself do look around and see jobs going but they are always for tree officers and head climbers, i have enough sense to know that ill not be able to fulfill that job at my current stage, but it would be nice to be able to some day. I seem to fall into a stereotype, a student with fresh qualifications and no skills, most ofmy other peers will likely have little work over the summer, whereas i am managing fairly regular work, im still training as i have a lot to learn, but doing that i am putting myself out of that sterortype, which can only be seen. I can phone companies up and ask for any basic work and they ask what i have but they never get back to me, it makes it a bit unfair. People say if it aint broke dont fix it, but if you want to learn, break it!
  20. exactly i dont own a tash or a bowler hat!
  21. When the eldest goes to uni and you talk to him about it, i can guarantee that there will be a lot of conversation about socialising. Theres nothing wrong with going out and ejoying yourself but people choose to go to uni for that one reason. Its quite shocking that he turned down a salary of 25k as a starting wage, going form the media course he would probably be expecting to get right up into somewhere on at least 30k? That seems to be the mentality of most i think! My parents divorced in the last 6 months, they split up a year and a half before that, being at the age where i understand things more like this it hit me hard and it took me a long time to be able to cope with it. I had to do something to keep my mind off things, i started cooking for myself and my girlfriend, now i live with my dad and he is out a lot, so im independant and will fix things myself. My mind likes to work problems out logically, so trying to fix something is always a good thing to do for me if i have enough time, but as soon as it doesnt go my way, i do something else out of fustration sometimes.
  22. but weve got devvo! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4PthyDuFbk]YouTube - Devvo on E4[/ame]
  23. it looks as though it would be very grippy to the point of overly grippy?
  24. exactly, luckily i have one of those! My last one broke so i replaced it As easy it as it can be to replace things and sometimes be cheaper, things like yovue mentioned dean, mechanics are nothing without a computer now. Go to an old school mechanic the only computer they have is in the office for surfing the net and ordering parts! Go into new garages they have all sorts set up for plugging into posh cars that can tell you everything. The only problem with computers is they are binary, its broken or not, its not faulty or loose or intermittent.
  25. idrove past a house the other day that has i dont know how many flags, it looks tacky! Its like a rash, first the car had some flaags, then the house got a couple and then the house got a lot more, now next door is getting some!
