  1. what do you mean by "unregistered " , IACS SFP5 ? how do you know they haven't put a TPO on within the last few days .?
  2. marshalls and riko are there with mini trailers grabs alpine tractors . various tractor sellers have chainsaws for sale , special offers , but the farmer models not pro models ! Hellish big chipper ,for fuelwood chips , from abroad . The best agricultural trade show in the UK .
  3. blame the organisers ; advertised that all those that arrived before 8.00 would get free breakfast ! I arrived at 10.30 and only took20 mins to cue of A17 .
  4. I thought that so long as you have a cph no ( holding no ) and the plot is atleast 12.5 acres ( 5 ha) and for agricultural/ forestry purposes excluding livestock housing and 25m ( 80ft ) from road or neighbouring residential then a simple agricultural determination application form ( 6 wks to reply ). dont expect to getchange of use though at later date for house ! Most steel frame building erectors / manufacturers will handle the application for a fee or advise .
  5. autumn's here , leaves are falling and so is the temperature. frost this morning finished of tractor battery , and my knees and shoulder are aching .Any body got a surefire way of keeping free of aches and pains of arthritis / rheumatism , perhaps magnotherapy , copper bands , cod liver oil , glucosamine etc .
  6. John Dawson at Grimsthorpe , twixt Bourne and Grantham , member on here .
  7. It isn't only generators, the car industry we're told is doing well here , but its all owned by johnny foreigners , as are the power generators , premier league football clubs , A neighbour of mine always use to say the best friend of british farmers was a german U-boat it made the government realise that home production was needed , infact essential , just wait till the next disaster to reduce oil production in some far away place and watch the price rocket .!
  8. just bought first new chipper ( greenmech quadchip with turn table ) , problem is have ifor williams tipper for chip pulled by mitsubishi twin cab , so only one drawbar and two things to tow . Have thought of taking pick up body of L200 and mounting chipper on pick up instead of towing it any one done this ?. Should remain under weight !
  9. there was john dawson at grimsthorpe near bourne / stamford he's on here some where on that name
  10. looking to buy my own small stump grinder, preferably well known make so spares are easy and resale value good , any body care to recommend one, or tell me what to avoid .
  11. we need more people and politicians to say what they mean ,STOP being PC I'm fed up with politicians speaking to get elected most of us want to be outrageous but are too scared to voice our opinions . This country has drifted into the cess pit because of apathy . anyway there's nothing like a bit of colour or a gaff to brighten the day . Civil seravants still waiting for them to reply to tree works in conservation area application it cots me money to wait wouldn't mind if they did their job properly My tax pays them to anoy me .Whoops cat and pigeons .
  12. Had one of those "special emails " today , ONe of colonel Gadafi 's sons wanted me to finance his trip to retrieve one of his fathers long lost treasure chests , I fancy a bit of winter sunshine . Any body else seen flying pigs ,
  13. an observation about VOSA are they not a private company now that are paid by HMG to enforce the vehicle construction and use regs . ( catch people and help pay of the national debt ) if they don't stop drivers then they don't get paid .Are they paid to educate drivers and send them on their way with advice or persecute ( sorry I mean prosecute ) . When farmers go to livestock markets they regularly attend along with customs and excise, trading standards and animal health. You now need a certificate of competence to transport animals over a certain distance .You might however target your politicians in Brussels , the biggest gravy train ever , and job creation scheme .
  14. yes level 4 at syston I put down that oak and walnut are good re codit due to having high levels of tannins and sugar maple also good as big sap producer. poor codit examples poplar and willow but not sure why fast growing / piffy wood ?
  15. thanks for your reply , trying to sort it all now ready for tomorrow .
  16. doing course work , CODIT in relation to tree wounds , need at least two examples of trees that are good at compartmentalisation and others that are bad at compartmentalisation, any one know or point me in the right direction ?
  17. I asked the accountants last week about having two businesses to avoid the VAT , the reply was business one sole trader and VAT registered. business two canot be sole trader, but could be a partnership ( silent / wife ) but then there would be two sets of accounts to pay for any gain ?
  18. To vat register or not ? surely if your sales to non vat registered businesses or public are greater than any vat -able purchases then its a no brainer keep away from being a tax collecter ( at your expense ) I know big things like chippers are bad news with 20% , but surely the gross price is income tax deductable. We're farmers ,and vat registered but most sales of food are zero rated , the arb work is done part time 2/3 days per week and I have to swallow the VAT because the farm side can't aford to de-register
  19. thanks for your efforts , of to another show in cheshire this weekend
  20. My tractors are insured with NFU for agric and forestry then arb work in addition but they don't like timber haulage , unless it has come of your own land ,because others tend to loose it on the high way with expensive results
