  4. always lay close to the bank and uphill, clean out as much timber as you can, id say dont then trim anually but re lay in 5-7 or 10 years time you could even go longer if its been layed well the first time, remember your doing this to produce a stock proof boundry and fire wood, i know cutters who will still in this day and age buy hedges for the timber and re lay within the ageement, i dont do it just for the wood i charge from £8 to i think the most iv ever charged was £25 per meter that was on black thorn but dispite the thorns in the hands it must be the best wood to burn

That is a great quote and i will say no more.
  10. No im not nuts the new landys are not the same as the old ones, for a start there is NO play in the steering wheel not like the old ones with half a wheel of play, the new Pumas have been designed with motoway driving in mind, the new 6 speed box is perfect for distance driving at speed, once you are in 6th gear you are only just over 2000rpm at 80mph. my last truck was a 2009 shogun and i think the Puma handles better than that did , the build finnish was better on the Shogun, but the Pumas better both on and off road , the brakes are very responsive, i do alot of motoway driving, i consider traffic conditions and if they permit i will travel at 80mph with no problem at all, i still have to move over for everyone else whose doing over 80mph and thats a lot of other cars 4x4s and the odd 7.5 lorry. i know when its safe to travel at speed and when its not, iv been driving for 32years with no convictions or points, i take onboard what you are saying and i do remember what the old landys drove like, the Puma is in a different league. im not NUTS. on the day of my testing the new 2.2 i was just trying to make a comparison. its soon going to be legal at 80 isant it? and iv never even been pulled by the popo

    Royal Marines?

Hi George, i only just made it through to my prmc , it was a 3 day thing then, i think it still is, and as i got of the train at lympstone i lined up , stud to atention and had a rabid fomin at the mouth cpl , scream at me ,tell me "the ant no way your passin out" crumbs if i had a plan B i would have run a mile, but i didnt, trianing was hard , BAD ,not as hard as days gone by as i was then told, but to this day i can still remember every day i was there:thumbdown: some of the things i sore, and did , will stay with me forever, one nice or lucky thing did happen while in training, a rest bite, i spent a week with prince Eddward, ithink it was on" Hunters gloom " we had a good crack, we didnt get beasted much that week but straingly iv never seen him since! i never got an inivte to his weding or wasnt asked to be a godfarther:lol: i did over the years get To meet all of em through one funtion or another, isnt the Q a short arse, can i say that with out been baned again? but any way iv had fun and changed my ways but theres still a lot of fun to have, any one on here serv on " the royal yacht " ? when it was in service, im gesing thats a wild shot in the dark!!

Nice sentiments Hama, its funny how things work out, i 1st joined in 1984 wanting to do my bit ,but after training ,that war was over, since then popularity (sorry about spelling) of Royal Marines has verieded, as different wars have come and gone so has the popularity of serving members, at times we have been hatted people and at other more recent times more liked, memories are short and people soon forget the sacrifices that have been made. My own outlet since leaving has been working and living with trees for me its not a job its my life now, a sad note is that many of my old mates are now dead, not from wars but from suiside and drink. another thing i do like about working with trees is the camaradery between arborists, its the same as that between Royal Marines:thumbup: did you like that:thumbup1: im not very sensitive and im sorry if iv offended anyone.
  17. YEP south west, there prices ant always good i used to buy a lot from them and like you said there prices flew up es on ale ,now i have to go to tesco for that, but today was just by chance, just passing so i called in, and as a result i got a bargain and some lucky traveller is worming his toes tonight:thumbup: How strange is fate?

  21. OK after much shouting i got my 2011 1st service for £379 and the loan 2.2 LR 90 van for free, they did try and spring a £17 charge on for that but i said no. so to my review of the new 90 2.2 van , it seemed nippy around town, the clutch felt light and gear change was more smooth, i was hoping to see how quickly it would get up to 90mph on the motorway, thats its new uprated top speed, but it was disappointing, it was windy and thats how it felt, like driving into the wind, both leaving and going back, my foot was hard on the floor and i never got above 83 to 84mph , i dread to think what it would be like towing:thumbdown: so when i took it back i told the rep how good it was:lol: and asked what he would give for mine he 1st SAID £19,000 thats for a 2011 Hi Cap HD with air con power windows and other goodies and fancy paint, i said put it in writting and it then went down to £17,000:confused1::confused1:hows that work? so i think im going to stick for the mo, apparently there are 2 variations of the new defender and both are bassed on the freelander, due to come out 2015

So thats where theyv all gone, shooting seagulls!!!, nice to meet you, you must try and turn things around, i too was taken advantage of when i first left, the problem is we are so keen when we first leave, but i have now turned things around, it has taken some years of study, and i am now as high as i need to be Q wise that is , M.Arbor.A PD Arb was my end goal but im not sure i will bother now, im old and worn out, still climb, but at 300 a day shooting seagulls sounds more fun:thumbup:
  23. My Hi cap HD Is in tomorrow for its first service, 12000 miles, iv got the new 2.2 defender on loan , any one got one, or tried one yet? if so what are your thoughts? i will post mine tomorrow, im going to give it a good thrash so we will see what its like on a run. off road i gues it will be the same.
  24. just give her say 2 weeks notice of when you are INTENDING to do the work advise her to put up an electric fence if the horses are to stay as some of the arisings may harm her horses, do what ever your client wants as hes a gooden just make sure you clearly specify your intentions in writing to her, you will of done all that you can, jobs a gooden, be polite as you say, as you know what these horsey sorts are like, you could be on to a ride your self:thumbup: you never know
